OCD and worrying about your mental health
OCD-related mental health concerns don’t stop at worries about OCD symptoms. It’s also common for people with OCD to fear that they might be dealing with something other than OCD, or for their fears to latch onto disorders and diagnoses that feel particularly scary to them. Certain OCD themes can also feel so confusing and irrational to the person struggling with them that they might worry that these concerns are signs they’re “going insane” or “losing their mind.” These experiences are fairly typical for OCD, and talking to a therapist who specializes in treating OCD with ERP (exposure and response prevention) therapy can be incredibly helpful for managing these scary thought loops. Has OCD led to you worrying about your mental health?
