Hi! I went through the exact same thing when I was trying out ADHD meds. I've been diagnosed for about 9 years now, and I've tried multiple different kinds of stimulants. Every medication I took worked wonders for my ADHD symptoms, they also INCREASED my anxiety/ocd symptoms (bc they are stimulants). In my experience, i decided that the cost outweighed the benefits. I didnt love the way the meds made me feel, even if it did help me manage my ADHD. But everyone's journey is different! Meds work really well for some people. If you start to feel they arent right for you, there are plenty of other ways to manage your ADHD that wont increase your anxious thoughts. Hope this helps!

@ChaoticCatterpillar Thank you so much!! I’ve been starting to think they probably just aren’t for me either honestly. I just had never felt so energetic and productive ever in my life! They weren’t lying about the “honeymoon phase” with stimulants😅 did you ever give non stimulants a try??

@AAnonymous17 I never have actually! I didnt know that was a thing lmao. But I guess there are probably ADHD meds that arent stimulant based. Might be worth a shot!

@ChaoticCatterpillar Yes me neither until I was looking it up some more! They definitely take longer to work as they work into your system, I’m curious about them!

@AAnonymous17 I should’ve asked too, what have you found helps the most to help you manage your adhd? I’ve recently just learned I even had it and I felt like I never have before with the meds (at first obviously) so how can I reach that same feeling of potential without taking them?

@AAnonymous17 Good question! I find that writing lists/notes helps me remember things. Like for example, I ALWAYS forget to clock into work on my phone, so I just recently put a note in my car to remind me! It can be frustrating at times when you feel like you have to do an extra step in order to complete a "simple" task. But just remember to be kind to yourself! The world works differently for us than it does for others. Its not wrong or right, its just different. And once you accept that, you'll find it a lot easier to navigate ADHD. (I once saw a quote that said "ADHD is the only disability where your brain is actually MORE efficient than the majority, yet you feel like its the opposite. And I couldnt relate to anything more lmao). You have PLENTY of potential✨️ You just have to get into the rhythm of how your mind works.

@ChaoticCatterpillar Omg!! I ironically have made that a habit of mine for so long now (setting reminders mostly) or else I’d never remember things either. I always just figured I had a bad memory😅 what I struggle with the most is actually DOING the tasks. Like regular cleaning, organizing, getting groceries, etc. but you’re so right, it’s in me already I just have to be kind to myself and know I have that potential. Thanks so much!!❤️

@AAnonymous17 Ofc! And yea, finding the motivation can be hard, but be patient with yourself. Turn things into a game if u have to! Put on music and set the mood (that always helps me). You've got this!!

Been on vyvanse for a long time now. (10 years maybe longer) I can honestly say that when I took ssri’s or similar meds while on it, it worked temporarily then things would go to shit. For me personally I found it was best that I just stick to vyvanse. I kinda had to weigh the pros and cons of each. But definitely consult with your provider about how you’re feeling, and what’s working and what isn’t. I wish you luck my friend 🫶🏼

@Zavier That makes sense! Did you find that it alone helped enough for your ocd??

@AAnonymous17 Well I’ve been on vyvanse for a long time,I’m kind of new to the idea of even having ocd. A lot of the stuff I experienced on the day to day I thought was normal. But I would say that I have had days where the vyvanse kind of muffles the racing thoughts and some days where it’s inescapable.

@Zavier Ahh I gotcha, here im the complete opposite and new to the idea of having adhd 😅 I definitely noticed the fluctuation of how my body reacted to thoughts on different days! I’ll definitely be talking to my psychiatrist more, thanks for your insight:)

@AAnonymous17 Yea I’ve thought about stopping vyvanse for a little while just to see the difference, but then I go to work and I’m like nahhh 😂😂
