People with soocd don’t really talk enough about how it makes us forget that even if it were true logically we wouldn’t lose attraction but gain another 😂😂when soocd isn’t hitting my brain actually brains and go like if my ocd was right I could still marry a man as I have always wanted because I would then be bi not gay. Soocd makes us throw our brain out the moment it grips us. I hope your soocd gets better
I had this terribly for 10+ years. Came out of it still married to a man and stronger for it. Best advice, stay off reddit or other forums and do not check. Also don’t avoid shows or movies because they may trigger you. The exposure is good

@itsmehi17 also after a while of having this i feel like my brain accepts that it’s a possibility it’s an annoying feeling like the thoughts don’t land as hard but they’re just there it’s not like im accepting or living by the fact i might like men but it’s something that ive noticed after half a year

@ryan_12 No but that’s the thing, in my mind when I had SOOCD it was just as bad. It doesn’t matter what it is, ocd will make it the scariest thing in the world! Only when you’re out of it is it funny and seems insane. Acceptance is something your brain makes you think because you’re getting used to the thoughts so you’re less bothered. That freaks out ocd and makes your brain come up with other ways to stress you out Look up “back door spike”

@itsmehi17 this has messed me up bad cause i used messaging girls as a compulsion and i had a girlfiend at the time i was doing this stuff i was completely hyjacked and it messed me up
@ryan_12 I’m sorry, it really can destroy you. But I know you can get through this. Are you seeing a therapist?
@itsmehi17 i have seen a few therapist and tbh i think dealing with it alone has been the best for me i do ERP by myself and ive learnt to deal with this alone ive omly done talking therapy

@itsmehi17 yeah i think ive got through the worst of it though, when it comes to SOOCD how do you deal with the fact it might not be ocd ?
@ryan_12 That’s the thing, you don’t. The more thought you give this, the more time you spend, the worse it’ll get. Spending time on here (which is hypocritical of me to say, I know), researching, testing yourself - it will make you worse. The 10 minutes of relief you feel is not worth it. You will never be satisfied by information, you just need to learn to let the thought sit.

@ryan_12 - You're not cooked :) The sooner you work on ERP therapy, the faster you will recover. You can recover in months, even! The speed of your recovery depends entirely on how much work you put into resisting compulsions. There are even ppl in their 70's who first start ERP treatment and they still manage to recover in a year or even less. That's amazing speed for someone who has struggled with Ocd their entire lives. It's never too late to get help

I feel like evryone is saying yeah the worst part is not knowing what my actual sexuality is however for me its like not that but more about being another sexuality and not being able to be with my bf because "my body and my truth are stronger then my will to stay with my bf". I also have the fear of SOOCD ending up being true or for example and more specifically liking it and never going back to men... I dont know if anyone relates to that, let me know!
As a lesbian with SO-OCD, I feel so helpless. It's truly exhausting because no one I know understands what I'm going through. The first response is always, "You're just confused" or "You don't have to know yet." But that's not the issue, I do know. I just never see any lesbians with SO-OCD so I feel so invalidated. These thoughts flood my brain constantly, forcing me to analyze my reactions to every man I see. I feel trapped in an endless cycle of "testing" myself, trying to prove that I don't like them. But my brain fights back, telling me I do want to love a man, making it feel real even though don't want it. It's terrifying. At this point, it's hard to even hold onto my identity as a lesbian because I'm so overwhelmed. I don't know if this is what real attraction is supposed to feel like, and that fear eats away at me. The truth is, when I think about being with a man, all I feel is disgust and fear-but my brain twists that into doubt. I hate it. I'm at the point where I'm scared I'm going to have to accept something I don't want because I don't know if this will ever go away. I miss who I was before all this.
How can you tell if it’s SOOCD, being in denial or sexual orientation fluid change? I really really hope it’s just SOOCD but I suffer so much from the loss of attraction to opposite gender and severe‘false’ attraction to same gender. It makes me feel sick and want to cry every time I have false attractions. I find it so difficult I feel my entire life has flipped and been destroyed.
