Erp
I cant see where erp treatment involves sitting in uncertainty. The erp I've been told to do by my therapist is exactly what's explained in the picture. Exposing yourself to your triggers and not responding or doing compulsions. That's what I've done and its helped me. Ive only ever chosen to say maybe maybe not as a way to quickly defuse the thought as it tries to build up inside my head....I can see the benefits of being okay with not knowing or being uncertain...but I dont think it works for everyone or in every ocd situation. Not trying to argue here, but im trying to work out how my practicing erp has never involved sitting in uncertainty. Its just involved not doing compulsions and not engaging with the ocd thoughts.
