Is Ocd from God?

Answer is no. Ocd likes to create distortions of God. For example, thinking God is controlling everything you buy. God gave us free will and already knows what you will do before you think about it. He predestined and knows the future. Think about it, like the previous example, how will buying this or doing that ruin the will of God? It can't. God does not want you in constant anxiety or fear. 2 Timothy 1:7 ESV [7] for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. The word of God is a good place to see if it's really God's will. You will know once you read the Bible. God loves you and wants you to have peace. God bless.

I always worry that I have demons that have attached to me and that is why I struggle with my mental health. How can I have such horrible thoughts and impulses when I was created with love and light? I don’t blame God, I blame Satan. I do not want to be led by evil.

I don't believe a Christian can have demons in them if they have the Holy Spirit.

@WarriorForChrist I pray every night before bed, I pray our father and some hail Mary’s before giving thanks and asking Gos to protect me from evil thoughts. Sometimes I give thanks when I wake up first thing in the morning. I became Catholic 9 years ago. I feel like I cannot accept communion because I haven’t gone to confession. I haven’t gone to confession because I have a ton of guilt about my thoughts and how can I ask for forgiveness when I’m not sure how to stop repeating the thoughts. I love going to Mass and I love sitting in adoration. I fear going though because I am afraid of someone coming in and murdering us all. (That’s a whole different issue I struggle with) Sometimes I try to avoid praying because I don’t want to make something bad happen. Twice I felt the urge to pray when my husband was driving us somewhere and one of the times we were in an accident and the second time we were almost in an accident. I fear my husband dying in a car accident and I’m afraid if I pray for him not to, then he will. I think I spend more time trying not to pray for fear of making something bad happen. I mostly just give thanks always.

@WarriorForChrist Also, I struggle reading the Bible. I’ve started a thousand times and never make it past the first page. 😭 it’s not that o don’t want to, it’s that there’s so much going on. I also think the Devil makes it that way so that I am unable to become closer to God. And now that I’m telling you all of this, I am realizing that I have far more issues with God than I really knew. lol 😅

@Franzo Me personally I am protestant. I think every christian should pray to God personally. Our father is good, but be geniune with God. Talk to him, he is our Father. No one is perfect. You can go to confession and take communion. Your thoughts is not a sin!!!! Unless its lust and genuine, intrusive thoughts is not sin!!!! I have the same ocd where I think "if I do this then this bad thing will happen." Fear is not from God.

OCD 'feeling real'

I suffer from religious ocd. My only goal in life is to live in God's will and to serve Him - to live and enjoy His eternal purposes & His presence. Jesus Christ is my life. That is my only desire on this earth, this short trip into eternity, and it's being stripped by ocd thoughts and intrusive thoughts 24-7. I have read many times that ocd can 'feel real', and this is true, our minds lie to us because of fear and anxiety we can't and were never meant to carry. I have begged and tormented myself in every way to find an answer from God. I think His answer may be that this is OCD, but I'm not sure. I started therapy again because I am so exhausted and this had stolen so much of my life in a spiral of negativity, depression, and constant anxiety & intrusive thoughts. I have spent about 2 years trying to figure out if my thoughts are real or not, especially with ocd it can deceive so easily as a spiritual matter when in reality it is just a thought, which is confusing and scary to say the least. Can anyone share their experiences with this sensation? No matter what the theme is... Thank you & Praying for your comfort

Religious OCD

Hi! I have been struggling with ocd for many years of my life, however, I have recently been struggling with religious ocd. Currently my ocd has been putting thought into my mind like, “you shouldn’t go to that party, because “God” doesn’t what you to” or “don’t do this or else it’s going to make “God” mad.” These thoughts have been overall causing me so much anxiety, and truly I don’t know what to do. I’ve been struggling to identify it’s actually Gods voice or not. Also, my ocd has been also making my prayer a very stressful part of my day, which is not how it should feel at all. Now finding peace in prayer feels more like a chore, than a conversation. Does anybody else have ocd like this? If so, any tips?

I sat outside of Dollar tree today for an hour, considering whether

buying a rug and nail clippers would send me to hell. Why do I worry that these things would send me to hell? I'm always gauging every impression upon my mind and heart, and wondering if God is speaking to me or not. I often wonder if God is warning me against little things that could send me to hell. What I have learned is that people who have OCD often have a lot of confusion about hearing from God. Sometimes their OCD is telling them they can't do something, but they think God is actually warning them. I'm working on this. Like I said, it took me an hour, but I eventually went in and bought the rug and the nail clippers. Was I SURE that I was going to be safe and not destined for hell? No, I went in and bought the things even though I still wasn't completely sure if it was the right and safe thing to do. But in the end, I think I am being obedient to God when I take steps against OCD. And so, even though I still had uncertainty, I went and bought a rug and nail clippers. And now I'm going to trust in the promises of God that I am still saved, even though I did something I wasn't sure about. I've had a lot of practice doing this over the years. I wish just making a shopping trip was straightforward and not full of rumination. But life is not that easy for me. OCD sure makes life harder than it has be. Lol 😀😀🤣😂
