Does anyone else deal with perfection in thinking?
Like being afraid you’re not handling your thoughts right? Being afraid if your counselor knew you were ruminating they’d be disappointed.

1. Great image! 2. Not specifically in regard to my counselor being disappointed, but when I get stuck on an ocd thought I often get confused and frustrated if I’m handling the thought correctly with how I’m responding to it. An example would be currently I had a sensation that was unfamiliar so my ocd has taken advantage of that to turn it into a fear which has been sticky for a bit. I am currently now going back and forth, with whether or not to lean into that and use it as an exposure or do my best to ignore it and label it as being insignificant.
Yes, it does help. Thanks. This is something that tormented me for years before I started working with my current therapist. She helped me with it in the exact same way as yours did.
@No surrender You got this! 💛 It sucks I know. But it’s just OCD wanting to spin on something else. See it as an encouragement. I’m overcoming the other themes, so now it’s trying to latch on something else. That is a good sign!
Yesssssss! My NOCD therapist said it’s meta OCD and needs to be treated like any OCD obsession. Like the thought comes “what if I’m not doing this right and I’m going to be stuck forever.” Or “what if this is the wrong method.” Or “what if I’m doing it all wrong” to being like ehh maybe I am maybe I’m not. I don’t have to answer that question, but if I still feel bothered by it in a few days I’ll cover it in therapy. Hope that helps!
Again, that’s much needed. For as far as I’ve come - I used to be a real mess with OCD - I still deal with this theme.
