Hello Yessi32, I see you are experiencing intrusive thoughts about experiencing deteriorating mental health. When dealing with intrusive thoughts, they feel like an imminent threat, as if a fire is burning around you. This leads to an attempt to "fix it", which only temporarily relieves the distress. This might be checking or asking others to confirm your reality matches theirs. The conundrum is that they very act of checking is what continues to make the thought feel dangerous. Have you instead tried to introduce uncertainty? Were you able to let your distress pass by? Did you struggle finding where to start? At NOCD we are trained experts in the diagnosis and treatment of OCD and related conditions using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). ERP is the gold standard of treatment for OCD and related conditions, with the better part of the past century's research backing the efficacy of ERP. If you would like more information on OCD and ERP, please visit our website at www.treatmyocd.com. If you are seeking to begin/resume your journey of recovery, you may reach out to our member advocate team at care@nocdhelp.com. I hope this message reaches you well and know that at NOCD, we are always here to help! Take care, Ian M. Reeder

I thought I was the only one that experienced this, I feel this way too. To a T. And I have to constantly reassure myself that nothings there or it’s not voices and people with schizophrenia can’t differentiate those things the way I can. It’s very common with people that have OCD to have this fear. And then it’s debilitating always looking for reassurance. I feel this way and have a huge fear of developing psychosis. You’re not alone. 💓

I had this exact thing and honestly deciding to stop checking on the sounds and things I saw made it soooo much better. It barely bothers me now... Just a fleeting thought here or there. Try accepting the idea that it could happen and you could deal with it if it did. Response prevention would be not checking or asking for reassurance.
