What do you think is your OCDs biggest purpose?

There is no purpose. It’s just a malfunctioning brain issue created by genetics, medical issues, trauma, and/or environmental factors.
Personally I feel there is no actual purpose. It is a byproduct of genetics chemical and hormonal imbalance , environment, normally a person with a high functioning intellect and brain that at times gets stuck a little compared to a manual transmission car that works but occasionally gets stuck between the gears .
I'm all into evolution and biology and I want to believe OCD is just an imperfection of our brain who was obligated to survive overthinking potential threats (we used to live maximum amount 15 y.o), now we don't have that potential threat but our brain just adapted itself to see everything as a potential danger but it presents itselfs as an obsessive behavior than a safety tool. That's what I think our ocds purpose 😭
To ruin my day...
I feel like it doesn’t have a purpose. It’s just an imperfect part of being a human living in a broken world. I believe God can use it in different ways though and it can make a person have great qualities. It stinks of course, but people with OCD tend to be more empathetic which is a beautiful quality. It also confirms that people with OCD are very caring people because they are so troubled by things that they deem wrong. People with OCD also are super strong- they have to be. It teaches endurance and resilience. It’s not something I want anyone to have (including myself) but it does reveal incredible things about ourselves that we may not learn otherwise
