Therapist bias against pocd
Just met with a therapist on NOCD who was biased against pocd, they didn’t want to treat me. I’m so shaken and disturbed like I feel awful about myself now.

100 percent please report them, and also so sorry that you were put in that position. That person has no business working for NOCD or even calling themselves an OCD therapist.
Please report them, that goes against the very ethos of NOCD.
Did you report them? They should be fired or sued.
@Stay.Fluid I’m considering it, I don’t want to get anyone in trouble but I think it’s bizarre that it happened here when the therapists aren’t supposed to have that kind of bias
@Just trying to survive I wouldn’t want that to happen to anyone else struggling with POCD. They should not be employed to treat OCD if they refuse to treat POCD themes. ❤️🩹
@Stay.Fluid Yea I’m gonna tell the care team about the experience it made me feel really bad but it’s good for me to remember that lots of people have pocd and they deserve kindness and non judgement
@Just trying to survive Absolutely you are not alone and have community who understand and support you 🥰 Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us. I’m so sorry you had to go through that. Hopefully this post and the comments will help anyone this happens to in the future 💪
A therapist tht works with ocd clients should understand that taboo topic. Do you mind sharing in general what the therapist said on why they do not want to treat you. I understand if you do not want to share that information
@Anna,hi! When I told them that I had pocd they made a point of telling me they probably didn’t have enough availability for me because they mostly work with children and teachers who need afternoon availability. I thought it was weird they brought up children being their priority clients so I flat out asked them if they were uncomfortable with pocd and they said yes.
@Just trying to survive At least they were honest I guess. I’m not exactly sure what the criteria is for being a NOCD therapist but they should definitely make it clear in their descriptions what type of ocd they treat. That’s also weird since if that’s a main struggle of yours, that should’ve been made clear before NOCD set you up with a therapist since they ask you about what types you struggle with before hand
@Wyonna Thank you for clarifying.
I’m so sorry :( I hope you find someone to help you soon
I’m so sorry :( it can be difficult to find good medical professionals. Try not to give up, you can do this! I’d also recommend reporting them if you feel up to it.
