I enjoyed going to the concert and I had just regular earplugs but of course my OCD after it feels like my ears are ringing and now I’m worried I did damage to my hearing or have tinitius. I’m afraid I should’ve got professional earplugs. I have been worried for a week straight
As a person with both OCD and chronic tinnitus, I understand your concern. I always carry ear-fitted earplugs with me if I am going somewhere loud. So, your concern for that is justified. However, most ringing after conserts are temporary and goes away. First, if you are unsure if your ears are ringing, then they aren't ringing. Trust me, ringing ears are quite noticible. If you are sure it is ringing and didn't go away in a couple of days, maybe visit an ENT doctor.

@Tinker22557 Custom fitted earplugs reduce sounds' dB more and are more comfortable. They aren't really expensive either. They just mold it according to your ear canal's shape.
Leaving OCD aside for the moment . There are 33 DB noise reduction rating earplugs that are readily accessible to buy . As far as front row goes would not recommend moving forward. Perhaps consider a better spot to watch the next time you attend with the 33 DB earplugs with you .
@777Q So true I wore those! My friend is a huge fan and in the moment I was excited and said yes. It’s a lesson learned but I also don’t want to be avoidant . It’s hard with ocd, you don’t know when you are doing too much lol
@Tinker22557 Not doing the first row I feel isn’t being avoidant it is exercising good judgment for your overall health. I have been to many concerts over the years always have fun but the earplugs can only do so much you need to exercise good judgment for yourself.

I understand this feeling and yes, tinnitus is separate from ocd; ocd just likes to latch on to it. I state, maybe or maybe not my hearing got effected worse from the concert, I'm not sure. Or, yup I notice the ringing, Ill let it be there, idk if it got louder, then refocus on something else. Let it be and it will fade- rinse repeat if an uptick. Also definitely wear disposable earplugs as a must, it's a great way to prevent ear fatigue. I've been to hundreds of concerts so I know the feeling!
I’ve been a bit of wreck this whole day. Today, I went to an ENT appointment I set up to address potential hearing loss issues that I have been experiencing for a while now. The result of that was the diagnosis of bilateral sensorineural hearing loss (mild hearing loss in both ears). I’ve been ruminating and catastrophizing all day today cause I feel like my world is crumbling (despite me knowing that I could still live a fruitful life). I’m not afraid of losing my hearing per se, but rather, the implications of it and how drastically my life will change. I won’t be able to make music and films the same way anymore, or enjoy it like I used to. I won’t be able to work day jobs that require me to use hearing. Without financial security, I won’t be able to take care of myself. I’d to get to rekindle my appreciation and knowledge of ASL cause I think it’s a useful skill, but I’m just really anxious. I’ve already been struggling a lot due to other factors in my life, and I find myself thinking about death pretty often, but I have no desire to die. It just seems like the only escape. I’m very scared and full of grief. I want to resolve all this conflict now, cause I feel a giant sense of urgency but I can’t. That’s what’s killing me right now. I know I can’t solve it all, and a big factor of OCD is being okay with uncertainty, but I can’t fathom that. I’m so frustrated and I’m tired of suffering. I just want my physical and mental health intact.
I believe I posted this a bit too late yesterday night, so I’m reposting. Hello, everyone. I’ve been struggling with OCD for two years. I’ve been attending concerts before I found out that I have OCD but since I started struggling with OCD, concerts have been overwhelming for me. I will say, I still attend concerts because they make me really happy. However, I do have a lot of anxiety before concerts, which results in overthinking, intrusive thoughts and avoidance. I wanted to share something and I’m hoping to receive feedback or advice on how I can learn to move on from this situation and enjoy the concert that’s coming up. Does anyone have advice on how I can enjoy the upcoming concert without worrying about the situation I mentioned? This entire week I’ve been searching for news articles and there’s been many times that I thought about not going to the concert at all. I know I shouldn’t be doing that, but I would like to improve and do better. I’m still going to the concert because I know I’ll regret it, I just feel nervous! So, the situation is, I accidentally left a water bottle under a seat inside a concert arena 8 months ago. I never litter, I always pick up my trash. However, when the concert ended, I couldn’t find the water bottle that I was looking for and I had to leave since my Uber just arrived to take me and my friends home. So, the water bottle was left in the arena. I asked my friend if she saw the water bottle and she told me that she saw it under the seat in front of us. Currently having intrusive thoughts about someone slipping on the water bottle under the seat, resulting in something serious such as a injury. I have another concert coming up soon that’s near the concert arena that I left the water bottle at and I feel worried about attending this concert because I have another intrusive thought that the staff from both venues will find me and tell me I did something wrong for leaving the water bottle. I’m also worried that someone did slip on the water bottle and I don’t know about it. I apologize for such a long post. Two years ago, I went to a concert of my favorite artist. I listened to this artist every single day and was super excited to go, even though I saw him numerous times to that point. I went with some friends and my now ex-boyfriend. Admittedly, I drank WAY too much. I do not recall the last hour of the concert (I do not drink anymore). Of course, my OCD ran with this and for two years, I have been worried I did something awful that I do not remember, like hurt someone, etc. Since the concert, I barely listen to the artist because it causes me so much anxiety. I am supposed to go to a concert tomorrow for this artist, but I am terrified to go because I am worried I will be recognized as the drunk girl who kept requesting songs or if I did do something awful at the last concert. I really do not know what to do. What would your advice be?
