I can totally relate to how your thoughts race from one thing to the next without relief. And the general discomfort including physical discomfort that comes along with that. What we're learning here is how to dissociate ourselves from the things we think and not make them what we are. I am not my thoughts and I am not my feelings. I am me the person I want to be.

@Matt Quelle It’s so hard to do that at the moment everything feels so real and scary I think for way too long I’ve been used to compulsions and my body spiking up when I get a thought it’s hard to just calm it done

@Yourfavocdgal Believe me I know how hard it is and how it certain moments I don't feel like I can stop it. Then the OCD live becomes I can't stop it, the black and white thinking which is always very negative and depressing. Sometimes living in the moment is realizing and observing your own negativity and what it does to you. It can be a moment for self-compassion if you can just step back far enough to see how you're suffering from it and how you don't want it. That's what makes this therapy hard, confronting what you think and feel and not letting it overcome us. We don't do that very well especially at the beginning of this therapy.

Thank you for this post. It helped me feel seen. One thing I can say that I have learnt is that when you finally are coping with thoughts better, ocd tries to trick you into thinking you are a bad person for NOT having a response. It’s all the same.

This is a very common and recurring topic in posts in this community! It’s usually a sign that your OCD theme has lost some power, which is great. As humans with OCD tho, we try to find meaning to our lack of big emotional response.
