Working with Ai

I want to ask your opinion about this cause I start to feel bad and not enjoying my hobby. I like music and I'm currently learning to play on a guitar but I don't really have time to do it every day just for now but I would like to be able to play music. For a while now I write lyrics, I really enjoy it, I started doing it when I was in 10th grade, so like 6-7 years, and I really enjoy it, and a year ago I found out about Ai and that you can make music with it. So I tried it and since then I made alot of songs and I really enjoyed it, it helps me to use my writing talent as for now, until I learn to play on an instrument, but to be fair, for some songs I would need a band to set it into music cause I can't do all that, and findig a band is hard. I uploaded some songs, I made videoclips too and that was my work, I did it, the only thing that I used ai for was setting my lyrics into music. And the problem is that I got alot of hate cause now it's a trend that you have to hate ai(while everyone is using chatgpt...) and some way I understand it, I don't want ai to take people's jobs, and some people use ai for bad things, just go on facebook and you will see alot of stupid things, but I feel like what I do is much different cause I use my talent, and the lyrics are written by me. If that would be written by ai too then you could say that its pretty untalented. I say this btw cause I got called untalented by someone and it really made me feel bad... So because of this hate towards ai content I don't feel motivated to do any songs and I feel like i'm a bad person cause i'm support something that takes other people jobs... I want to hear your opinion about this. BTW: My plan is that if I ever get a band or learn to play on many instruments, I want to redo these songs so it will be played by a real person, not ai. I'm also open to give it to others, I would like to be a music producer, and writing lyrics to people, but as for now I can't do these things... But I think Ai really helped me using my talent...

In my opinion, I don’t think people necessarily deserve hate for using ai, and I’m sorry you have been called names. I also don’t think ai is a good option for art creation, and I consider it a bit dangerous to society. I personally don’t use it, but I see how it can be an accessibility aid to people depending on their situation. That being said, I understand why you use it, and it seems like a good tool for you. Maybe working on how you internalize and interpret other people’s opinions could help you. If you love something, try to learn to love it shamelessly. People may be cruel, but you deserve enjoy your hobbies. Even if others disagree with the way you do it. Even though I don’t support ai because of how corporations use it to take jobs, how students use it to avoid work, etc. I do think it can be helpful in certain situations. If you decide to keep using ai, learning to let go of insults and the pressure to conform could help make it easier. Regardless, I hope you continue to make music!

Thank you for the nice words, I agree with you. As I said I've seen alot of stupid things in facebook,people use ai for false advertisement, to get views, and also stealing other people personalities...But I think you can still use ai and be creative

I build AIs and they are really designed to be a tool to help build better efficiency for your workflow. I am obviously biased but in regards to your case I would use AI in this way: you can use AIs to help you learn an instrument, then you can use AIs for idea generation for song lyrics that you would curate and maybe even use AI for accompanyment tracks if you want to have a solo band, you can of course do all this work yourself but in the end with AI the speed to accomplish everything will just be faster because the machine will help with the redundant tasks.

Being a singer

I always had this dream of becoming a singer since I was young but got bully by family that my voice wasn’t good because when I was in the six grade I uploaded a video to my mom facebook page of me singing although other people commented that it’s was good just need improvement but my family made funny of me not knowing this is a career I want do in life so never really sing around ever because that still make a joke because my mom think my voice is good and so does my best friend, boyfriend and brother. I want make music but don’t know how get start at all then own top that I discourage I feel old I am 24 it’s too late now but I wish someone help accomplished that dream

Artist Against AI

A local business recently made a social media post that used AI generated art. As an artist, I’m against using AI to create art. Ya know? So I sent it to a buddy who thinks the same way, and he proceeded to bash the business and now there are so many comments that are arguing with him and saying he’s not thinking about the greater community and that he could’ve handled things better. After I sent him the message, he showed me his first post about it, and I said “Yikes, just don’t bring me into it” But now I feel like it’s my fault that all of this happened. I had no idea he would respond that way. And I feel like it’s going to be a series of cascading failures that’s going to result in me losing my job and being excommunicated from the community. All for sending a post to a friend and saying “Look at this”

A nice DM sent me spiraling

I used to post my art online a lot, and I was so proud of it. But the last year or so, my OCD has been making me feel like I don't deserve to post because "no one would support me if they knew how flawed of a person I am." Today, I got a message from a stranger saying they missed seeing my art and wished I would start posting again. It was soo damn nice, and I wanted to be happy about it, but my fears immediately hit me hard. Would this person still want to follow or support me if they knew everything about me? Of course, my therapist pointed out that there are sooo many people out there who post constantly and have no problem asking their supporters to help them, and surely they're also flawed people, but they don't let it hold them back. I know I'm only human... but I've seen so many people gain success, only to get knocked down, and it terrifies me. This is probably my biggest internal struggle. Sometimes, I want to give up art completely, but the little kid in me who dreamed of being an artist is saying, "Why are you giving up on us?" I feel kinda weird posting about this, but I hope you guys get where I'm coming from. If anyone has any insights or thoughts on this topic, I'd reeeeally appreciate them.
