From what I’ve noticed, I think an underlying OCD behavior is thinking your personal OCD is worse or manifests in a more unpreventable way than anyone else else’s. So I think it’s normal to feel that way. Especially in the way we think that the things we do are unforgivable, but the things that others who suffer from OCD do are a byproduct of their disordered thinking and not a reflection on them as a person. And I feel you in the false memories department. I have a distinct memory of doing something I 100% did not do. Just the amalgamation of stories and other live experiences have combined into creating this false memory. It’s very difficult with OCD to be able to derive the real truth of what has happened and really it gets into the concept that we cannot derive that truth. And yeah, memory is malleable so the more you poke that memory or thought to try to determine the truth the more you distort that truth, highlighting OCDs negative affect on the thing it’s trying to prevent.

I don't have false memories but the factual thing sticks out to me. What gets me are the things I know to be true, like risks of death or injury that happen to people. Most of my OCD is based off of horrible stories people have told me or I've read.

I know it's terrible to Google about everything about ocd, but I think is very educational to search what is necessary, like false memory, I just learned about it last month, bcuz i started having false memory this year and didn't know what was happening. The only thing for sure is the more you try to remember the worst it gets, it turns blurry and starts dissappear, the solution is just sit in discomfort and let the anxiety come and go, it's scary and horrible, but it's the only way. BTW theese days my mind tried to convince me I was a psych0 and started disturb my memories from childhood when I felt things deeply, sometimes it creates false memories, sometimes make my memories be different, but remember, when you first got the memory of your past, you were sure! also it's ok not to be sure hsuahsua

Maybe Your ocd could “evolve” or change when you start to get a better handle on it, gotta notice and adapt to that with new coping skills etc to “beat this round” … if that makes any sense.
