Do it. It is very awkward at first. I felt it too. But nothing bad happens. You have to get to the point where you give up and accept what the thoughts are saying. Try to get like curious about how it will feel to give in, curious about what will happen. Like an experiment. Ok i give it a try and i will show you i can really accept and give in. After that real magic starts to happen.

Ok this sounds hard but and will cause distress in beginning. But it do help. With such thought i would start thinking like this.: OK, cancer. That is it. I hhave cancer then. Cancer it is. Well i had a good life. Thats it i have cancer so what. Ok. Bring it on. Give me.2 cancers, maybe 3 types. I dont care. Bring it on. I have cancer. It takes some guts to do this. But what you realise after doing it is that you get better. And you also realise after a while how crazy it sounds. You start realising that it isnt true. It is like funny after a while. 3 types of cancer come on. If that doesnt do it then continue with cancer all over. And you even can start laughing to yourself how silly it sounds.

Hi Leilaa. First i must tell you that i am not a psychologist but i use my long experience with myself and tell what works. And it does work both from experience and from what psychologists say about accepting thoughts. First you must understand that the fight against the thought and trying to go against it or proving the thought wrong will do your ocd worse. How hard some thoughts might be you must give in to it. Tell me if i am wrong. But from bottom of your heart i know and you know that you will never hurt your dad. It is only your thoughts scaring you about it right? Therefore you need to take some time giving into that thought. How hard it might sound you need to let go and think ok, what if i hurt my dad, then i hurt my dad. Then dad will be hurt. Yes that is a possibility. Sure. And so on. You will feel bad from it. But after a while you feel better. So it is all about the thoughts not what you will do. Because you will not do anything. Thoughts i just thoughs and in your head you can experiment with hurting dad. It is juat thoughts. You will also realise how silly it is after a while. Another example. I have too felt ocd thoughta about devil taking me and i am bad person. Until i really overdid that thought. I viaualised many devils on me everywhere. I just let them be on me and bring it on. Of course i felt stressed but come on anyway. After i while i felt better and i relised that god would not leave me just for me thinking like this. I could see things more clear afterwards. So realise it ia just thoughts and in thoughts you can experiment with anything. And even if you experiment with something in thoughts it doesnt mean it will happen in real life.

so basically, your thoughts are your thoughts . And just because you think something doesn’t mean you won’t act upon it? Basically your thoughts don’t matter, it’s what your actions are that matters ?

Exactly. Thinking stuff like this doesnt make somone a bad person. If you think something like this with intention to act upon it then it is something else. But ocd people wont act on it because we know it is ocd. How come else we write on this forum if we wouldnt know it was ocd? So experimwmtwin your thoughts to let go. Accept what your ocd thoughts tell you. Invite them and even help them and come up with even more of what they are suggesting in the first place. Then you feel better, understand this is not real and also the thoughts doesnt think it is fun anymore because you come up with even more of that stuff yourself.

Have you tried giving in? I mean really give in. Let the thoughts be there, overwhelm you and accept them. Then things get better when you really dare to do that. Almost like giving up.

Well the first will help. But accepting both will help you even better. Give you an example. I had ocd thought about harming a person about what i said. Accepting that thought is one thing. But when i gave in and starting saying to myself and accepting the thought like this: ok i did say like that about the person. It did happen and nothing can change it. Ok i did do that! And ok he might get hurt. Ok thats true it is a possibility. It is a possibility that i might be so. And nothing i can do to prevent it because it is already done. Not trying to fight what really happened. Accepting it. After that even more magic happened. What thoughts you having?

Oké thanks dude. I have two different themes switching all the time. This week I mainly have HOCD thoughts, but two weeks ago my health anxiety was really bad. WI try your method bro, I want this to be over..

Yes, I've thought for weeks I have MS or cancer, it's sucks ass just like HOCD

Yes try at least. And hey if your really had cancer then it doesnt matter anyhow if you try or not. So accepting is the key. One method i use that works well is overdoing thoughts like in cancer thought. For example if i think i will crash i start thinking, ok i will crash every time i drive car, everywhere on every rock and car. Then the thought becones silly and you get better. If you think noone likes you. Think that ok, noone in The country likes me, no in the world, not even the aliens in galaxy. Then this gets silly because you know people who do like you. So apply to whatever thought. Bring it on and help the thought get overdone in your head. Let it in and give it too much tools. Then it gets silly and you get better. Good luck! Hope it helps.
