How I got over harm ocd was accepting the thoughts as just thoughts and nothing else. It was really hard at first but I eventually accepted them and would try to bring them up on purpose and I intensify them on purpose to let my brain know I’m no longer scared of them. Your brain will get bored if the thoughts don’t scare you. ERP really helped me a lot. Good luck.

I’m not doctor or psychologist, but what I do when I get intrusive thought is confuse my mind (if that makes sense). When a thought starts to form, I think of a load of different things really quickly which confuses the mind and holds off the bad thoughts. I don’t think this is the correct method, but it works for me

I had really bad harm intrusive thoughts especially towards my mom and it was driving me crazy but after doing erp they thought me that the best way to get over it is accepting the thoughts no matter how distressing they are. Because what is holding us back was the uncertainty of not knowing that what if we do go crazy and commit those intrusive thoughts. The best advice they gave me that helped me was challenge your brain when doing ERP to come up with the craziest scenario and make the worst outcome you can think about. I would write down a scenario kinda like a story of harming someone. And then play it out in my head. It’s horrible in the beginning but your brain tends to habituate to it. Now when i get those thoughts it’s rare when I do know I just laugh about and be like really brain you can’t think of a better way to kill someone I be like i know I’m more creative then that. They say if you can legit laugh at your thoughts they will slowly become distressing. Hope this helps a bit I’m not the best at explaining but good luck to all.

I suffer with harm ocd too. I try and keep moving as best as I can. Think about other things and let the thought float by. Try a grounding exercise, name 5 sodas, 7 animals and 10 colors or something along those lines. Therapy really helps. I am hoping they call you soon! You are strong!

I feel like I already play out the scenario in my head and it’s the worst thing in the world. I get so scared and feel “urges” to just do it :( Its so hard

Do any off u get physical symptoms?? It’s hard to explain but it’s like my mind coz all fuzzy like I’m gonna pass out and then that is when I’m going to hurt someone xx
