I was in a very similar situation. I struggle with checking OCD as well and worked in a very toxic environment. I was micromanaged and was told I was incompetent at my job by someone in upper management. This individual was really the one who was incompetent at their job. The stress of all this constantly gave me anxiety which would make my OCD worse in general. I eventually realized it wasn’t me and it with this individual who was incompetent and had issues. I ended up leaving this company and got a job somewhere else where I feel appreciated, where I am not micromanaged and don’t have to deal with the stress of being in a toxic environment. Things improved with my OCD after that. As far as disclosing your OCD to your boss, that isn’t something I did based on personal preference. I didn’t feel disclosing that would help me. That decision is up to you and your information to share if you want. I can definitely relate to how you are feeling. Try to stay positive even though it isn’t easy. I hope things work out for you.

You’re welcome. It was also nice to know that I am not the only one who battled this as well. I also try to limit my compulsions at work but it is definitely a struggle at times. This app and ERP therapy have seriously helped me so much so far. I’m still on my journey of learning to live with OCD though. I am sorry to hear that OCD had an impact on your first job. Look into a career change and do what feels right for you. My job is very detailed oriented and that can be a great thing with OCD or a curse. In the right environment, it is a great thing for me. That is just my experience with it. You are diagnosed now so you can take the right steps to work on living with OCD. Try to stay positive even though I know it is hard at times. There is a light at the end of tunnel. There are many other people dealing with the same struggles. Just know, we are not alone.
