So before I started treatment my sister had anxiety meds so I asked her because my ocd was really bad and it’s bad right now like extremely. Theme after theme so I she gave me 2 until I can get prescribed some and i took it hours ago and all I am is tired, I still have the anxiety and maybe worse. Excuse my language but I feel like shit
I’m so sorry you don’t feel well. You shouldn’t share prescription medicine - I would not do that again. Lexapro is an SSRI which many primary care doctors can easily prescribe.
I'm really sorry that you're struggling. I know how it feels to desperately want anything to give you some relief. Medications like Lexapro are meant to be taken consistently over a long period of time, at a dosage recommended and supervised by a licensed professional. It typically takes weeks, if not months, to really start noticing differences in your mood. I understand the desire for immediate relief, but please don't try to find that kind of relief with medication, at least not without the help of a professional. The meds that *do* work fast can easily become addictive. What meds like Lexapro are meant to do is raise your serotonin levels over time, which is a neurotransmitter that improves your overall mood. You can naturally increase your serotonin through exercise, meditation, diet, and fulfilling hobbies. If you need immediate relief right here and now, you need to bring yourself into the present moment. All of these intrusive thoughts and anxious feelings aren't rooted in the present, they're rooted in the past and future. Try to notice what you physical feel right now, without judging it. Or look around and try to find 20 white things. Or 12 red things. Or things that start with the letter S. Notice every single sound you hear. Notice what the ground feels like. Anything that is rooted in the present.
I understand, I just wanted a peace of mind and I think I made it worse. I couldn’t even finish my dinner, I don’t want talk to anybody because i think I’m saying my thoughts out loud. And now it’s getting worse. I’m getting reassurance from every sentence
Lexapro affects everyone differently, for some it can calm anxiety, for some it can make it worse. For me it was prescribed to me as an antidepressant, but it made my anxiety worse, it’s just a matter of you and your doctor figuring out what works for you. (Which is also tricky) hope this is helpful!
personally lexapro really helped with my anxiety! but you shouldn’t take anyone else’s medication without a prescription!! it’s important for a doctor to prescribe it to you and give you a dose that is good for you.
I’m so sorry you aren’t feeling well! In my experience, lexapro did not help my OCD. I will also say pls be careful and don’t share meds! And to echo an above comment, it takes about 6-8 weeks to feel relief with any SSRI. If you do want medication support I do recommend asking your doctor about Prozac! It has saved me with my OCD. It has not gotten rid of it completely but it’s taken away a lot of the debilitating symptoms. I hope you find relief and I totally get the feeling of desperation and just wanting to feel better❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹
I just got diagnosed with ocd and she suggested I think about taking lexapro for it. Has anybody tried that and does it help at all?
Hi everyone, I’m 23 and have been on Zoloft since I was 16. For the past couple months I’ve been having panic attacks more and I’m sick of feeling like a zombie everyday. My boyfriend said I’m very sad and unhappy then when I first met him 2 years ago…. He thinks it’s the medicine. Throughout the years I have upped and lowered my medication, but now, I feel as though it’s not helping. Either it was too much where I didn’t feel emotions at all like very scary stuff or it wasn’t enough to help me. I was given 5mg of Lexapro to try…. I’m scared to take it. All I know is how Zoloft is. I don’t want to go crazy on it, be allergic to it, etc. I feel like I’m going to trip myself out when I take it and not actually feel the difference. I could really use some positive feedback I really just want to be a normal human😭
I started medication and therapy I statted medication approximately two months ago and I m getting worse . I just can t focus on studying I forgot what I did and this didnt happen before my brain didnt stop even in my sleep I just feel exhausted I lost my belief to recover and I dont know what to do I just feel like I shouldnt have statted take medication because It just helo my depression a little but on contrary It makes my anciety much worse and totally I feel much worse I just dont know what to do my life is miserable I feel like no one could help me anymore If you read this could you response me? I just feel like no pne really gets me and my religious ocd hits me very badly
