I’m a math tutor and I’ve been appreciating how much doing some math helps me reset. Do you have any subjects that short circuit The Thoughts?

No. I'm either good or I'm struggling. I'm ready to hear about some things that maybe I could try that won't make me obsess. If I try things when I am needing a reset I get too consumed and then find it hard to stop! I try to just walk and rest and journal the thoughts.
Regular hobbies are a yes from me! Last time I tried to plant my way back to regular thinking I ended up with 84 tomato plants 🤣

I find that a lot of OCD sufferers are very creative people. Maybe that is our secret superpower, that we can access this spontaneous creativity. Comedienne Jess Thom says something similar about her Tourette’s and being able to access this spontaneous creativity.
Puzzles, putting the pieces together relaxes my mind
I tend to work a lot. I try to fill my schedule with work and with friends and family (who I'm eternally grateful for--they keep me grounded when the going gets tough). It's a little tiring and it doesn't work for everyone but it helps me. Just have to make sure I'm not overworking or avoiding.
Movies and writing.
