OCD without any visible compulsions?

I think this defines the best my situation. It has always made me feel like I'm not "sick enough" to deserve help :(

Pure O is what I suffer from and it's the mental compulsions that keep OCD going. It's constantly ruminating over for me an unsolvable problem that cannot be answered. It's trying to figure it out that makes OCD worst. You have to learn to stop ruminating . It's not easy but the advice that NOCD give is true. I am now in recovery again but feel thankful for their advice.

This describes me every single day. I have a thought, I try to solve it, then I continuously reassure myself when I “solve” it. Then I try to prevent myself from having that same thought when it tries to come up again

Yes all you can do is acknowledge the thought even though you don't want it to be there and STOP RUMINATING or trying to solve the thought. I did this and of course it wasn't instant but overtime it actually works. Never stop doing what you want or need to do. My Pure O OCD has been very severe but I have overcome this again.

I unfortunately think the majority of the compulsions I suffer with are mental, it’s very exhausting to deal with and I think it causes people to think I am not present when they are speaking when I’m trying my best to pay attention.

I think over my life I learned to make my compulsions mental because as a child I had a lot more physical compulsions. But now I can spend hours ruminating and working out solutions to scenarios in my head or checking things mentally. It’s exhausting.

This is what I have even though in the past I had some of the visible signs as well.

I’ve been living with Pure O since my early teens. In my mid 40s now. I have been fortunate in that an SSRI has allowed me to live a fairly “normal” life. Still had intrusive thoughts but was able to brush them off without ruminating. However, I recently had to switch to a new ssri as my old one popped out on me after 20ish years. It has not been an easy 4 months but I’m hopeful the new ssri will help get things back under “control”. On the second week of full dose of new ssri. In hindsight I waited too long to switch ssri’s as my ocd mind came up with all sorts of new themes to ruminate on, but I was afraid to switch off something that had worked so well for me for so long. I’m praying this new ssri works for me. But these 4 months have helped me to 1) realize how fortunate I have been and 2) reassess what is most important in my life. So sort of a “blessing” in a very painful way. Your health is your wealth. I want to do more to help those less fortunate than me gain access to better mental healthcare. But honestly, I’m at a loss on where to start. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I constantly argue with myself. Lately it’s turned into pretending to argue with people in my life who have different views than me. Constantly trying to prove that I’m not wrong. My brain never stops.
