I’ve opened up about my OCD with my therapists and my best friend the most. My other friends and family know about my OCD but I do not give details due to a fear of them accidentally helping my compulsions. I mainly vent about my struggles with my best friend and therapist since they have the most experience with OCD and are able to help me get through spirals. I haven’t had a negative experience when it came to opening up since I only really tell specific people about it
I told my boyfriend right when I was diagnosed. We watched a psychoeducation video together. It was hard hearing about my symptoms negatively impact him but it was an important conversation and he is willing to work with me with this.
Ive opened up about it with lots of people now. Ive found that when I talk about my ocd, people tend to open up about stuff they are also facing, even if its not ocd related. I think talking and sharing experiences helps me feel less isolated, and makes me realize that everyone has their problems, and im not alone there.
Before I knew what it was, I thought i’d never, because it was so horrifying. Nowadays, I share with my friends when i’m upset, and I talk often with family because we can relate to eachother. I never really share what my thoughts are, but my pain is understood, and im happy they understand me a bit. 🩷
I was listened to I think? but I didn’t really feel like the people close to me I’ve talked to before have been very supportive or understanding. I feel very alone.
I opened up to a friend who was experiencing similar post partum fears I was. We both quickly realized we were experiencing something abdormal, and we were both, interestingly enough, diagnosed with OCD. Self reflection after that led us to several moments in our lives where OCD had effected us and we had no idea. 😅
A therapist and I stopped going because I couldn’t afford the co pays
Yes I talked about it to my close friends and eventually some family members that didn’t already know, It was a little hard because of how complicated it was to explain, as a matter of fact the reason why I originally couldn’t is because I thought it would be too difficult for them to understand. Once I did talk about it though I felt so much better and relieved that they knew something was going on and that I now had support
I opened up to a therapist. I didn’t know what I was experiencing at the time, besides violent intrusive thoughts and “memory problems” but she assessed me for OCD. After that, I opened up to my partner.

I’ve opened up about my ocd to my family and my therapists. I think it went ok sometimes but sometimes I felt like nothing they could say helped.
And like idk if they always understood or sometimes I was nervous of what they would say but I just wanna say one tip is that you dont have to worry about what they might say bc most likely they won’t like be shocked if you tell them cuz I told my parents and they didn’t freak out

I told my boyfriend and he told me I was a psychopath and ended up breaking up with me. I told my therapist at the time and she told me she wouldn’t have me arrested and gave me tons of reassurance and made it much much worse for over a year
