So I’ve never been diagnosed with ocd or adhd due to not getting checked out but I honestly think I have adhd I mean I have intrusive thoughts here and there and anxiety but the symptoms of adhd are there idk someone explain please

Welp you can have both ADHD and OCD co-morbidly, not sure if that’s your situation because obviously I’m not you and I dont know what your symptoms are, but the best way I can describe an ADHD intrusive thought is Doug the dog from up, you know the scene in Up where they meet Doug the dog and he’s introducing himself to them and then screams squirrel and then keeps jumping back and forth between different topics and by the ends of it your like how did we get here again??? That’s pretty much exactly how my thoughts work with ADHD. OCD is different OCD thought is going about my day and maybe I see or hear something that triggers an obsession, it’s a thought that causes extreme anxiety and distress and you have to find a way to fix it or get rid of it because you feel anxious you feel gross you feel icky, so you begin a behavior that behavior is a compulsion and it will typically give you immediate or almost immediate relief from the anxiety because you’ve “fixed it” but the anxiety is always going to come back and you’ll feel the need to do the compulsion again and you’ll get stuck in a cycle. With OCD you’ll usually be able to identify the trigger, and you’ll know how you got from point a to b typically. ADHD is disorganized, others will probably have a hard time knowing how you got there, and on some occasions you may go so far down the rabbit hole you don’t remember how you got there. Either way if you have concerns if discuss them with a doctor if you can
@#Lexiriri So when I eat a lot of sugar for a while my brain goes 100x faster playing random songs and other stuff
@Conqr_OCD That sounds like a sugar rush. ADHD is constant it doesn’t turn off, that’s why it’s very difficult for those of us with ADHD to get things done. ADHD is typically associated with dopamine deficiency and your brain jumps through hoops to get it, that’s why it’s difficult to stay on task, focus on one subject at a time, have a linear thought process, and why we get so stuck on particular topics because once we find something that gives the hit of dopamine our brain keeps going to that source until it doesn’t work anymore (think listening to literally the exact same on repeat for 4 months straight). So no eating a ton of sugar isn’t going to cause ADHD symptoms or make ADHD worse.
@#Lexiriri So I do get stuck in loops, I had anxiety as a kid, got homesick easily, daydreamed a lot, and had trouble focusing in school. I was held back in a grade. I’d get scared leaving home or going on trips. It affects work, relationships, and my confidence. I feel like my brain is nonstop and I’ve never really felt ‘normal. I get a lot of intrusive ‘what if’ thoughts My mind replays old mistakes like they’re a big deal. Sometimes I get random sexual or scary thoughts I zone out constantly, even when someone is talkin I get distracted super fast and end up on my phone.
To me that sounds like anxiety and OCD, not so much ADHD.
