Those are the bad thoughts and we do not listen to the bad thoughts. Distract yourself with items in another aisle until she leaves. Don't pace, that let's the thoughts walk around too. And what if she saw you pacing in front of the aisle and thought it was weird and scary? She might think you're blocking the aisle exit. You almost agreed with the thoughts because that's the only thing you let yourself think about.

@Anonymous Thanks for your response. Yes, I tried to distract myself but I was with my sister, she was a few aisles away, but she kept calling me from afar and pressuring me to hurry up because we were late for an appointment. So I was under a lot of pressure and feeling nervous. While pacing the aisle waiting for her to leave, I tried to do it discreetly as if I were looking at products so as not to seem weird or make someone uncomfortable, besides the woman hadn't even seen me because she was facing the exit talking to someone else. My intrusive thoughts show up when i'm under a lot of stress and I was having an awful day.

@Kei1 I did exposures for social anxiety that involved things like asking people to do things that slightly inconvenienced them, ie. Asking a sales person to get something for me and then not buying it, interrupting employees having a conversation to ask an obvious question, ("Is this on sale?" when it's on a table with a big SALE sign) asking strangers on the street obvious questions, ("Where's the movie theater?" when it was visible from where we were standing). Uncomfortable but very helpful for this kind of thing!

@kittylady96 It makes total sense that you got flustered because of being late and feeling stressed that day! OCD wants to make everything YOUR FAULT but sometimes external circumstances have a really big effect on us!
