God isn't calling you to be more strict. Because even if we add all these strict "works" to our resume, God isn't going to love us any more than he already does. God is pleased with our faith. He is pleased when we take him at his word. So when the word of God says that you are saved, you can believe it! And resting in that truth is good! And that is what God wants. I don't like message from this screen shot. I don't know where you found it. Does the OCD make you do constant research into posts, but never give you any rest? I have also struggled with worrying about my salvation a lot. That's part of OCD!!! I have learned a lot of the journey. God says perfect love drives out fear (I John). God wants you to be comforted in his LOVE. That means that you don't have to TRY HARDER or be MORE STRICT. Your extra "trying" is not important to God. We don't get to heaven by trying to do a lot of things. You can actually rest. You can rest in God's love!! This is what God wants for you. I recommend not Google searching. If you can find a mentor to talk to, that would be really good. Then you could work through some of these questions with a real person. I think that might really be helpful.
Thank you for sharing this; I needed to read this tonight. I’ve struggled with scrupulosity the past few months & I have hard time letting go of my doubts & all the compulsions I do to try & erase them. I love God so much, & I know that’s why my OCD has attached itself to my faith, but it’s so exhausting feeling like I’m not doing enough as a believer.
Maybe try this video from Mark DeJesus. He's a Christian minister who has OCD. https://youtu.be/qzbvV9B7DXo?si=ZaI3GQdG4cdaU8ZC You might also like Jaime Eckert, another Christian with OCD. Here's a short video from her: https://youtube.com/shorts/jozD1nRT_X8?si=shgmkxe-ppSejHOj
Check out scrupulosity solutions by Jaime Eckert. She has some great responses to this!
Hello G C, I see you are struggling with intrusive thoughts about whether you are saved or not. OCD is a disorder, where the brain attempts to reduce distress through compulsions. The compulsions only lead to temporary relief and worsen the distress over time. In this post, I see you are struggling with intrusive thoughts about your salvation. Instead of trying to "figure it out" have you tried to sit with uncertainty? Were you able to let your distress pass? Did you struggle to start? At NOCD we are trained experts in the diagnosis and treatment of OCD and related conditions using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). ERP is the gold standard of treatment for OCD and related conditions, with the better part of the past century's research backing the efficacy of ERP. If you would like more information on OCD and ERP, please visit our website at www.treatmyocd.com. If you are seeking to begin/resume your journey of recovery, you may reach out to our member advocate team at care@nocdhelp.com. I hope this message reaches you well and know that at NOCD, we are always here to help! Take care, Ian M. Reeder
