Hi all š Iām posting out of curiosityāwould anyone like to share their experience with Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) therapy? Iāve heard very good things (low side effects, high chance of positive results, once a year treatment cycle) but would love to hear personal stories about your experiences too (both good and bad welcome!).
Yeah I did it and it was very helpful. I felt like my old self again. It is time commitment as you go every day Monday through Friday.

I did a full 6 week TMS treatment recently for the first time and honestly donāt feel like it did much for me. My journey with OCD has been interesting though so I wanted to provide context. Prior to starting TMS and having tried multiple psych meds in the past for āanxiety and depressionā without relief, my psych provider referred me to a TMS provider. This TMS provider actually had OCD experience so is the one that recognized it and diagnosed me. We went ahead and did the whole TMS treatment and I was doing ERP therapy at the same time. At the end of it, this new provider and I decided to start huge meds another try since I was REALLY struggling still. So now after starting a different med at the ocd dose I am starting to feel better. I feel like overall TMS was a good experience and I really didnāt have any side effects from it. I did have to take partial FMLA to complete it though due to the time commitment. One other thing I wanted to mention was that were two different TMS providers on my TMS. I had appointments at both. I got a weird vibe from one of the places that they were just there to make money so I went with the place that seemed to care more about me as a person. And Iām glad I did. I hope this is helpful! @Anonymous This was great info! Somehow the app didnāt notify you had replied here, but I really appreciate you sharing this. Iāve had some pretty high depression symptoms and was told TMS can be targeted for depression or for OCD with pretty great results. I appreciate you sharing your story and the details around it! Iāve only tried Sertraline (Zoloft) and it didnāt work out from me. It has kept me away from meds for a while after I made some pretty big strides in therapyā¦this helped me reconsider meds for depression again. Thank you!š
@j vv Whatever you end up trying, I hope you find the relief from your OCD and depression!
Iām hoping to get into it myself! Not me but a dear friend, had it and had amazing results. Her doctor did mention that after some years, there MAY be a possibly that you would need to go through the therapy again as it may wear off. But other than that I have heard nothing but great things
@Arivotts Amazing! Yes, I was told it might be a week-long treatment (maybe longer?) but that the results last all year.
Iām curious about this as well. How expensive can it get? And are there any like bad side effects or anything? Iām also curious to learn more experiences too.
