Couldn’t get to my Uncles annual 7 Fish Christmas party tonight🙁 As hard as I tied I wasn’t going to make it there on time or even a couple hours late… by time I get there it will be over just like what happened last year. Thanks to OCD I missed out on another fun family party. I HATE OCD I’m so sad and feel like I’m never going to get better.
I’m really sorry to hear that. I’ve seen others say that ocd likes to show up at special moments.☹️ I know it’s easier said than done, but don’t feel hopeless. You are totally not alone. Things can get better. Also, I know it stinks but just cause it’s the holidays doesn’t mean you have to feel perfect. It’s ok if you’re having a hard time, and I hope that you can still enjoy the holidays.❤️🫶

@Scarlet5 Of course.❤️ I think it can definitely make you feel isolated, and make you feel like there’s no way out. But you are not like a failure for having ocd and are most definitely not alone! 😊 I’m currently in a huge flare up now and I know it can feel very defeating when you want to enjoy the time with your family and stuff. But even in our struggles we can still find moments of joy in life, even if it isn’t constant. Good thinking going to Jesus. I need to do that myself right now, so thank you too!❤️
I hate OCD too, but something interesting. Martin Luther the reformer struggled with Scrupulosity OCD. He would obssess about yelling profanity at the Virgin Mary. He had other obsessions as well.
Yeah! It brings me hope to know that one of the greats struggled with one of the worst forms of OCD. All forms are terrible but faith centered OCD i feel is one of the worst. But i feel it pushed Martin Luther to question beliefs.
The patient needs a rope (practical steps) during the snowstorm (the moment of the obsessive thought) ❄️🧠 This method is a practical plan for confronting obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), summarized in four steps: 1. Re-labeling 🏷️ · Instantly acknowledge that the thought is an obsession and not reality. · This slows down your response and strips it of its meaning. 2. Separation Between You and the Obsession 🚧 · The obsession gains its power when you believe it is a part of you. · By naming it and separating it from your self, you "disown" it in front of your mind. 3. Redirecting Through Action (The Most Important) ⚡➡️🌱 · Here, action is required: Stop the compulsive behavior and redirect all your focus and energy to another activity (Complete the proper task you were doing, which was interrupted by the obsessive thought). · This is the "test of success" and is like building a muscle through repetition. 4. Reinforcement and Reflection 🧘♂️ · After the attack subsides, review all the previous steps and tell yourself: "It was a silly obsession, I identified it, and thank God I completed my work and wasn't halted by this obsessive thought." · Repeat these steps to erase the old obsessive neural pathways and build new ones. In summary: Treatment is the repetition of these steps (especially redirecting through action). And finally, reliance on (God of Islam religion) is the cornerstone of healing 🤲.
