Why does the world treat us this way

It’s the insurance AND all the practices that make their prices so unaffordable. Why would it cost someone $250 to talk to a specialist and get some help?! I believe it’s all a scam unfortunately. God is with us in our struggles and understands our suffering even more than we do and He doesn’t ask for a penny. I saw a Christian therapist a while back. She actually didn’t diagnose me with ocd but she recognized my symptoms and suggested that I may have religious ocd so I started doing research and realized I did have ocd - religious and various other types I grew up with but didnt know it was ocd. I did get diagnosed through here but that was all I could afford so I never saw anyone on here again. Long story short, my Christian therapist helped me so much and she doesn’t even specialize in ocd and the company works with you if you can’t pay full price. There’s help out there and just know you’re not alone! I can’t afford therapy on here either sadly. Idk why they don’t make it more affordable.

Getting mental health recognized at all has been one hell of a struggle. The health care system as well is deeply flawed on getting what people need in general. It's not that they're specifically targeting you as much as a combination all these factors that happen to screw you over. I'm not sure I can call it evil, though it certainly houses evil people, but it is unbelievably frustrating.

I don’t feel at all comfortable receiving care from this system that is not prioritizing health. How can I feel comfortable using my privilege to benefit from a system that prioritizes its own survival and profits over the needs of others? I have a library card. I am intelligent enough to read the literature and perform ERP on myself. I will not cede this responsibility to anyone but myself. I will make myself well.

I'm sorry that you're struggling in this moment. However if you are resilient and intelligent enough to actually get an engineering degree, and then go out and get an engineering job then you are intelligent and resilient enough to study that version of therapy and join a local community and take action to write an advocate on behalf of yourself and members of our community You are not helpless. You have already been given all the resources you need. You're just not going to be able to do it in the traditional sense and that's true of so many of us who don't have your resources like an engineering job and full health insurance and an engineering degree.

Yes, I agree with you. I wish I knew about this program earlier this year. I didn’t know I had OCD let alone didn’t know POCD was a thing. I started in late October. Unfortunately, my insurance is changing and they are not accepting my insurance. Or I wish the program offered sliding scale where they can base it off your income. I hate I have to abruptly end my session.

So I grew up, and im not that old, when you were told "life isn't fair". That was the end of the conversation. There is a lot of truth to that but there's also options. Save money, take out a loan, borrow from family or friends. If you want the treatment bad enough you'll find a way. Or as another had expressed, take out books and teach yourself. I'm not trying to be cold, it just is what it is. God bless

I’m sorry to hear that. Is it NOCD that is $250 per session private pay? I see a specialist that’s not NOCD and they’re $150 an hour. I had another guy who was $115. It’s still a lot of money but a lot less than $250. Maybe you can shop around and find someone who does take your insurance or who has lower private pay rates
