Is there anyway to make the $240 sessions cheaper?

They should really make it a sliding scale if they care about more than just profits. My best advice I can give you when dealing with uncertainty is that instead of needing answers tell yourself “maybe, maybe not.” That’s one of the biggest things I have learned in therapy here, which I don’t do anymore bc I learned what I could — the rest is up to me. Remember that this is not going to cure you. It will teach you coping mechanisms that you have to practice implementing in real life. At every session they also have you track your obsessions with different topics on a scale of 1 to 10 to evaluate your progress and force you to be more conscious about your obsessions.

If so, it’s hard because I think that unfortunately many therapists don’t have a full grasp on OCD and ERP is a such a specialty but there may be resources outside of NOCD that could help with a lower cost for you out of pocket as I totally understand that $240 twice a week is a huge expense, I know I certainly wouldn’t be able to to do that either — that’d def be rough for me as well so I really feel for you 🥺🫶🏻 There is a website that I know of but haven’t personally used before called Open Path Collective — https://openpathcollective.org/find-a-clinician/?action=search_fetch&pagination=0&address&distance&remote&online&cost=both&n&specialties=221&treatment=419&language&ethnicity&modality&age — this is the list of counselors it showed me when I selected OCD / ERP in the search fields The IOCDF has a page here that lists some different resources for treatment with a lower cost, maybe you could work with your NOCD therapist to visit once a week while supplementing with one of these options? https://iocdf.org/low-cost-treatment-options-for-ocd/ And there may be therapists online or in your area that offer ERP sessions on a sliding scale or scholarship basis depending on your income/expenses, though I know it can be a bit stressful and a chore to search and find these resources. You could try going once every other week and just work with your therapist closely to make sure you have enough homework between sessions. If you can find someone who offers a sliding scale that’s always helpful. Not the best option but finding a credit card with a 0% interest into period can help you get into therapy quickly and pay it off over time

Unfortunately, like most in health care in this country- they are making way too much money on behalf of the patient..they need us to return to my appointments to make them more money..
