Healthy boundaries vs. harmful accommodation
Boundary-setting is a popular topic these days—especially on social media. It makes sense, because setting healthy boundaries can help you feel more respected in your relationships, promote work-life balance, and maintain your well-being. But when you’re living with OCD, the conversation around boundaries can also bring up an important question: "Is this a reasonable request, or could it end up accommodating my OCD?" You deserve to feel cared for by the people in your life, and part of that care includes not reinforcing OCD. With practice and patience, you can learn to differentiate a boundary that’s aligned with your true needs from a request that accommodates OCD.
