How do we know we won’t act on our intrusive
Thoughts? Do y’all ever worry about that or self isolate?

Sure, it's a big part of OCD, the What-Ifs. ERP therapy is a very effective treatment for OCD. Are you in therapy with a trained OCD therapist who uses ERP?
@Steven55! No I was and we just worked on my fear of driving. I don’t have insurance so I can no longer afford erp therapy. Do you have any suggestions?
@Stacey353 - I can send you some publications and podcasts that you can review. Would you like me to do so?
@Steven55! I would love that!
@Steven55! How do you send ppl things on here
@Stacey353 - You’re not alone in feeling this way—many people with OCD struggle with intrusive thoughts that seem to come out of nowhere and feel very real, even though they don’t reflect your true self. It’s understandable to feel anxious or worried about what these thoughts mean, but having them does not make you a bad person. If you’re struggling and need more assistance, remember that help is available. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at NOCD to find out how we can support you. @Soliel Cut and paste.
@Steven55! You are the best!!!
@Soliel I don’t think you can send things I think you just have to post it as a reply.
@Stacey353 What I did is create a folder on my computer, then cut and paste them in the folder. Then, I cut and paste them in the comments section.
@Steven55! Thank you
As a mom with harm OCD this is something I worry about all of the time. I am in 2 different types of therapy. ERP as well as I-CBT! (Both are used to treat OCD) when going through a flare up I try as hard as I can to continue to live within my values and not give the intrusive thought what it wants! (which is rumination, and to figure out the thought to make sure I won’t act on it) so sorry you are dealing with this friend 💙
@JM93 How do you handle these thoughts? Do you have them 24/7 I’m a mom too
@Stacey353 I try to remain grounded in my values. My faith has been the key component for me. When I am in a flare up (which I am right now) they are nonstop. Constantly attacking me. I also get false urges as well. Which makes it incredibly more difficult. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Prayers for you friend 💙
@JM93 Same exact thing with me!! Prayers for both of us I wish this upon no one.
@JM93 I also get the urges and I think those are worse than the thoughts because it makes you worry you could lose control.
@JM93 I would love to talk with you more I have no one to talk to and it makes it so hard.
Many of us worry about losing control and acting against our values. Avoidance is definitely a compulsion.
