Hey Will 7! OCD latches onto whatever we find most awful/counter to who we are, so you're right that you'd never want these things to happen. It's also not a sign you'd act on the thoughts jist to have them happen. You aren't thinking about them on purpose, or because of anything you would do. What have you tried to do to ignore the thoughts and distract yourself, if you don't mind me asking? I have exercises I have tried that help but I don't want to recommend something that you already know and that doesn't help.

You aren't your thoughts, I know it doesnt feel like it. Things will get better. Are you seeing a CBT/ERP specialist ?

@Will 7 If you're in the UK theres a BACP register where you can find therapists who specialise in CBT/ERP

I got told about erp so I've tried sitting through the anxiety which is really tough as the thoughts are so messed up and that will happen till I get a new thought staty crying or walk off

It's best to do ERP with a therapist at first, but that's really admirable to do ERP on your own.

Originally I would try a conversation or go on my phone but the moment I'm not thinking about something other than ocd I'm thinking about something ocd related whether it's about having a bad thought trying to stop a bad thought or anything ocd related

A conversation might help! What I do is I picture the thoughts in my head drifting away. Or like floating away down a river. I know that sounds really weird but it works pretty well! Doing something engaging is also good sometimes, going on my phone usually doesn't do it for me. Also when you see the counselor just tell her that you're having unwanted thoughts that upset you. She probably will ask what they're about but you shouldn't have to say anything that's too upsetting/traumatic to disclose. Also psychology today has a really good therapist finder !! Best of luck :)
