Medication resistant. Is there another issue?

I’ve had no side effects, positive or negative, to any medication I’ve taken. This includes 80mg of Prozac, 200mg of Zoloft, 60 mg of buspirone, and 10 mg of abilify. My ocd symptoms are bad (my Y-BOCS score was 39), so I’m not sure if the severity is the issue, or if there is another issue. My therapists supervisor thinks something else may be going on because I have had no side effects from 10 mg of abilify. Does anyone have ideas? I read that some people metabolize medications more quickly than others, and I don’t gain weight easily, so maybe that is the problem. It could also be ADHD in addition or the severity of the symptoms, or something else

I’ve had similar issues with both ssri and snri doing nothing for me. I take a supplement of lions mane mushrooms(with my drs advice) (not suitable for those taking blood thinners, diabetes medication, and any autoimmune disorders) and it has been helpful. I also take magnesium glycinate (also at my drs advice) and I think it is soothing at times. In a panic, using ice to lower heart rate can be helpful, as well as chamomile tea brewed double-teabag. These things can help me when I’m in a rough spot and may be worth trying if they are a good fit for you

I got medication metabolic testing and it showed that I had some very rapid and some very slow metabolisms of common medications. It was expensive but at least it helped make informed decisions

@Shydog How do I get that? Is there a way to do it online. I’m not sure if I want it if it’s too expensive, but it might be worth it to make informed decisions

@anonymous23635 A psychiatrist ordered the tests for me and it’s possible it’s less expensive now since I got it 10 years ago

I’ve tried all meds and I’m pretty resistant to all. I’m in therapy too. It’s just all around hard.

@#happiness I’ve heard of DBS and anterior capsultomoy for really bad cases that don’t work with TMS

@anonymous23635 I’m currently in ERP. If I could learn to stop ruminating life would be so much better. I’ve learned to not reassurance seek or research and confess. Rumination is the worst of my problems. I’ve been on two pages worth of meds of different stuff that I’ve tried.

@#happiness That’s good that you’ve learned not to confess. Confession and rumination are my biggest symptoms. One thing I have improved on is using message boards like NOCD for looking for support and not for reassurance.

@anonymous23635 I thought I was sitting w uncertainty by saying idk. But I was arguing w ocd trying to out yell it and ruminating on the idk. I just realized that.
