I also am on Prozac and Wellbutrin. Together the combination seems to be helping me dramatically. I don’t remember having it get worse before better as far as the OCD. I do remember my anxiety and restlessness spiking a bit but specifically not my OCD
@DLColella I need to ask about Wellbutrin I heard it also helps you quit smoking is that true it’s been awful trying to quit
@MR.25.25 I know you didn’t pose this question to me but just to give you some peace of mind, Wellbutrin acts as a NDRI so it suppresses appetite so I can’t imagine it wouldn’t help reduce your urge to smoke (you’d have enough dopamine to satiate any cravings). For me personally, I’ve never smoked so I cannot speak on that but I have struggled with food and it cut all cravings so I ended up losing a lot of weight fast because I wasn’t really eating or drinking much but was burning a lot from the energy boost (once your body adjusts, the norepinephrine boost definitely helps you feel more awake, so if you’re struggling with depressive symptoms I suggest adding a NDRI or switching to a SNRI). Unfortunately that’s no way of knowing until you try it yourself because everyone’s body reacts differently but it’s very common to help do so and I’m hoping it’ll be the case for you as well. I don’t know if that really answered anything but I do hope that you feel better soon, take care love ❤️.
@MR.25.25 I currently vape and didn’t have any intention of quitting so i didn’t catch a correlation. But i did notice it cut my craving for snacking and have lost a little weight. The reason i had for taking it was the Prozac cut my labido and the Wellbutrin counteracts that a bit
Like any SSRI, your body doesn’t begin to metabolize it until about 2 weeks on and you don’t really see the extent of side effects and benefits until about a month on… you’ll really know if it’s working anywhere from 3-6 months on and that’ll usually be the time you decide to increase/decrease dosage or taper off and switch medications. In my experience, after that two week adjustment period, I feel like Prozac was pretty good (better when in combo with Wellbutrin for me) but I also developed a lot of neurological side effects because of preexisting issues that it triggered so I had to stop. I will say, I think Prozac has been the most effective SSRI I’ve tried for managing OCD (obviously the neurological side effects weren’t good but outside of that) so it’s not perfect but it’s worth a try. Remember, everybody’s body is different so it may or may not work great for you but it’s always worth trying. How long and what dose are you on if I may ask?
@DeeDoo Embarrassingly a few days so I haven’t really given it a chance I took it before though and I think it may have helped but got off all medications and the past several months has been a nightmare with my ocd and anxiety ptsd also postpartum I should’ve never gotten off but my insurance ran out and I couldn’t reapply I’m scared that what if it never worked and that I’m stuck this way forever I feel miserable for a day or 2 i thought it was really working but now I feel about the same I guess I was going through the placebo affect because I know it can’t work that quickly I guess but I just wanna be ok I’m so tired of this just wanting it to work faster and feel happy again and recover
