My ROCD theme (one of them) surrounds this person I hungout with a few times and kissed right b4 my partner and I started dating. It’s been almost 2 years. My fear is that I like like this other person. Anyways, someone I’m close to was texting this other person and such and I think I felt some type of way about them potentially hanging out? what does that say about me. I would assume for others that means they probably still like or have feelings for that other person so I’m freaking out. I’m so in love with my partner!

Everyone has all kinds of feelings in all kinds of situations, that’s totally normal. I think that there’s probably good reasons why you and your partner got together instead of with the other person. And at this point that’s in the past, because what really matters is that you are in love! It’s okay to have different types of feelings at times. It seems like it’s time to wish them well and it hopefully will help you find some cool new feelings of compersion and something you’re proud of that you conquered. The true test of relationships is how they last with time and it’s amazing you have had close to two years together! As much as you can, enjoy the love you have! 🤗

@Mk3 I think this would be best addressed with an expert to realize that you are experiencing normal thoughts and wonders. But it may be helpful to think about how feelings and relationships are complex. Just because you have noticed some type of feeling, doesn’t mean that there is any type of issue. It’s something that you can explore in healthy ways and in the end use the tools you learn to make yourself stronger and smarter about how to use your feelings to make smart decisions. It’s amazing you have a partner you love and any thoughts around this are things you can explore and help to make your bond with your partner stronger if you’d like. And just to emphasize an important point here, I think talking with an expert is ideal to make better sense of what I’m saying. 🤗

@FunPandas&Dogs Thoughts around what exactly ?? I definitely don’t want to confess to my partner or even talk about this if that makes sense. I have learned confessing /sharing these things is not helpful for anyone. Thank you so much!

@Mk3 Totally understandable. You can do whatever you’d like with this :) There’s a world of options. The key is just realizing it’s normal and realizing that however you go about it, you can find ways for it to help you build strength in your partnership.

@Mk3 Yeah, you’re all good! I think the terms like “have feelings” can be misleading in terms of what they truly mean. Just because you notice some type of feeling around someone doesn’t mean it’s something you should be worried about. Different people give us all kinds of feelings. It’s okay that some stand out. The important thing is staying true to the values you believe in and are committed too. A therapist or other professionals could help you make sense of this better, but I hope you’re finding faith in yourself that you’ll be great :)
