Forcing myself to be social
I struggle so bad with harm ocd and today I’m so proud of myself! Thanks to the comments from you guys I’ve spent the whole morning with my family and just fought through the uncomfortableness!!

Nice job! I’m so proud of you! I also struggle with harm ocd and recently, had a pretty bad episode and am very scared to go out in public to be around people. What advice can you give?

@Stacey353 I’m just glad I’m not alone. It’s been very difficult for me lately and it feels like I’ll never get out of this hole. I really hope you get through your OCD and keep getting advice
@Parthxus What is it you’re afraid of ?? Maybe we could help each other??
@Stacey353 I’m afraid of losing control in public and attacking someone. I get sensations in my body for it and it’s so so scary.

@Parthxus I tend to spend a lot of my time in bed bc it’s my safe spot

@Parthxus Me too. Do you have the same urges at home?
@Stacey353 Yes, I do. I get urges pretty much with everyone and pets and it’s very upsetting to me to the point I’m scared to be around them, especially with sharp objects
@Parthxus I have the exact same problem! Do you try and self isolate a lot that’s what I do :(
@Stacey353 I don’t self isolate because I know I need to be out in the world and I can’t stay cooped up in my room all day. I need to go out. As much as I want to, I don’t unless again, I’m done with sessions for the day

@Stacey353 Have you gotten any therapy like ERP?
@Parthxus Yes and nothing helps :( I’ve been erp, emdr and talk therapy

@Stacey353 I recently got diagnosed and had these thoughts since January. I haven’t gotten help for ERP or OCD at all yet.
@Stacey353 Have the thoughts calmed down or are the urges bothering you?
@Parthxus No the thoughts never stop :( it’s like a pure Hell
@Parthxus Yes the urges bother me bc it makes me feel like I’m gonna act in the thoughts and urges
@Stacey353 I would definitely keep trying to see a therapist or OCD specialist. It may take time to see results. I would ask a professional on what to do as I’m very new to my OCD.
@Parthxus Yeah I still work with a therapist. I’m learning they these thoughts for new. Anything though they are just really uncomfortable ya know! I know I would never act in them

@Stacey353 this is great to hear. Getting out there and being social will help tremendously. It always does me. And the more you do it, the less discomfort you will feel, and the better you will tolerate it when it does creep in.
@cmj4333 Thank you so much! So the more I just suffer through the better? Even if it’s uncomfortable??
@Stacey353 That has been my experience. Try not to think of it as suffering through. I know it feels like it sometimes. You are tolerating the discomfort in order to make yourself stronger and more resilient. Keep it up.
