Was supposed to be my 1st day back to work today in over 2 months (I work in a hospital and have contamination OCD) And i didn’t go. I “couldn’t” go i just felt like i can’t do it. i feel so terrible and i feel like i failed God. I did not want to take meds but I’m considering starting medication for my OCD.
100% start medication. It’s what it’s there for. Imagine having diabetes, suffering from low blood sugar and the feeling that comes from it, and thinking it would be a good idea to not take insulin. Don’t fight yourself.
@MindfulMan4 I just started meds and so far feeling worse but I’m just hoping it gets better soon. What’s your experience with meds?
@Anonymous I have tried many things over the years to find what worked best for me. I have been on Fluvoximine which is an SSRI that is known to help people with OCD the best. I also have found the Ketamine lozenges to be extremely helpful. Everyone is different so finding your own path is helpful. I will say though, with out active therapy, meditation, and purposeful mindfulness, you won’t find true help, and internal peace. It’s all about clearing the fog and then working hard on your mind to understand yourself. But most importantly show yourself a little grace and love. Accept that you are flawed and that our brains mess with us. Speak to yourself the way you would a dear friend who told you they were having these issues. Best of luck!
@MindfulMan4 Thanks for the reply, i’ll be visiting my doctor to start meds next week. Hopefully it’ll be good for me
@MindfulMan4 I tired Luvox and it was the only med I tried with the least side affects. It just had me way to tired. Now I switched to Zoloft and it has me way to energized especially at night😭 Also, my OCD seems worse at least right now. So im hoping it’ll better better over time. If not, I’ll be going back to Luvox. Thank you!
Hello, I’ve come on this app tonight to help others out. About me and my ocd- I’ve been in and out of hospital, having 30 + showers a day, changing bedding anytime I have an intrusive thought so this could be 20 times a day, etc etc! I’m always checking and always trying to “figure it out” ocd has ruined my life. However, I finally decided enough is enough and that’s I don’t want to live like this anymore because trust me it’s horrible! I finally listened to my therapist because before when she said “go with maybe it Is” it “it definitely is” I would still refuse because it felt like I NEEDED to know ASAP!! However, just these last couple of days when I get a trigger I say to myself “yes I like this groinal response” “oo yes I like this thought” “yes I am a bad person” “oh well who will ever find out” and of corse this has helped me massively! I have such less thoughts and so less triggers and compultions! I’m not down to 2 showers a day due to this…. This shows how well it works, it’s just doing it. At first I really didn’t want to listen to my therapist because I needed to know, I couldn’t live without knowing, however we can, and will. I am proof that it gets better, I never thought it would but here I am, slowly getting better and so can you! For you try this Say to yourself “yes I’m failing god” god will never know” “who cares” “yes I’m against god. Of corse you aren’t, but this is OCD recovery
