Scared because I have to be patient

I am having a sore throat on one side and am worried i have an infection that i wasnt aware of. I am afraid its going to turn into something worse because i dont know what it is, and its totally spooking me that i cant go see a doctor right now or even probably in the next few days. I keep telling myself to just try to go to sleep, i cant know whats going on right now and lets wait and see in the morning but UGH IM SO ANXIOUS!!

sorry to hear my friend! ocd loves to crave urgency and certainty. sure, we cannot be certain you don't have an infection but we're also not certain that you do. unfortunately we just have to tolerate this. i'd recommend having some water and doing something relaxing 🤍

@squirrelquarrel Plus i saw i could get a doctors appointment tomorrow to get a strep test but i dont even know if i will still be feeling the sore throat or not yet but i feel like if i dont take it, i wont be able to catch it if i do. But i also have plans tomorrow with my boyfriends family 😭

@TheObsessiveCompulsiveL if i were you and i wanted to challenge my ocd i would not book a doctors appointment. just wait and see how you feel tomorrow 🤗 it's okay to wait. i had a sore throat the other day and nothing came of it. you would be doing good for your ocd by delaying a compulsion. 😁

@squirrelquarrel I waited and its the next morning! My throat doesn’t hurt, my mouth just feels a bit off or dry. Im tempted to have my mom look in my throat but im going to try to resist!

Oh MAN! I feel you. Whenever I workout, my chest gets tighter for a few days following the workout because I am tight, and I believe I am suffering from every medical episode in the book! So hard to let go of these sensations and feel them without spinning

@Marchie11 Oh god MEEEE TOO! I have costochondritis so my ribcage is always locked up and it always makes me worry about heart attacks LOL

@TheObsessiveCompulsiveL LOL. I am starting to be better with letting thoughts go, but sensations are my next larger battle. With everything from the tight rib cage, tension headaches, and DPDR. It’s a completely different monster but treat that thing the same! It is hard tho lol
