Christian communion at church

I just recently did my first communion (it was really hard for me i got really sentimental lol cus i had gone through a lot of anxiety for it) but now im scared cus i feel that ill be expected by my family to take communion every sunday now and idk i know its smt good but i feel like i dont want to, ill miss how going to mass was like just sitting and peacefully watching and listening, but now i feel im expected to do smt i dont want to every week, plus ill be scared i sinned and didnt notice or that i have to be perfect all the time cus if not i cant take communion and id have to confess and i dont want to confess again its scary! My family said they wont be asking if i dont take communion and that it is my choice but im still worried that theres really no reason to not take communion if i didnt sin so ill jusy feel im denying Jesus ik my dad would say smt like that but im really scared i wanna dissapear from all these religious expectations!! :(

Hey don’t worry about it, God is with you and He loves you. You can still watch and listen even if you do receive… but it’s okay to be gentle and patient with yourself too. With sinning it’s a hard thing to feel when you’re unsure, but the more you confess the easier it will be, I promise there’s no judgement… but also, having religious OCD, you really gotta trust that God sees your heart. If you are uncertain and do receive, I don’t think He would ever condemn you!!

I understand that you don't want your family to assume the worst of you and it takes a lot of energy doing something you're afraid of. Jesus knows your heart. You can confess to him on your own private time. But if you feel that you do want to go up in front and confess because you genuinely want to, that's great as well! It can be good opportunity to as an exposure once in awhile. It's good to face our fears. We can take our time though and go at our own pace. Focus on what is gonna help your mental health more 🩷.

@Cooki But yeahhh i didnt want to confess or do the communion yet i wanted to wait until i felt ready but i couldnt due to circumstances sobbbb, i think faith should be when one feels ready, but it also felt like it was like Gods plan or smt and i couldnt escapee 😭 i survived atleast tho it was a beautiful eventtt im just really anxious noww

You can take communion if you have sinned. You can’t take communion if you have mortally sinned. If you know the difference between venial sin and mortal sin but are still not sure if you are in venal sin or mortal sin even though you know the difference, then the best thing for you to do is to go to him, go for communion, and understand Jesus loves you and knows your struggle and wants you close to him. You can always take spiritual Communion. “Jesus, I wish to receive You spiritually into my heart. Come to me, Lord, and never let me be separated from You.” Spiritual Communion is about uniting your heart with Jesus when receiving Him physically in the Eucharist isn’t possible. It’s a deeply personal act of love and faith.❤️🙏🏻
