Hi Lona š if you are experiencing a huge sudden increase in symptoms after extinguishing your OCD repeatedly, you may be experiencing a *backdoor spike*. This is a clinically documented phenomenon where OCD essentially throws a last few tantrums because you have effectively starved it of reassurance and compulsions. If this is the case, as strange as it may sound, *this is a sign of great progress*. Backdoor spikes happen after repeated success, and go away about as quickly as they come onā¦as long as you donāt give in to the dread. Stay strong, it will pass! You can read more on backdoor spikes here: https://www.treatmyocd.com/what-is-ocd/info/ocd-stats-and-science/backdoor-spikes-how-to-deal-with-sudden-ocd-episodes
@j vv I donāt know that backdoor spike exists, I donāt know what it is. But thoughts, doubts that I might have smth are always in my mind, even when im busy, i might be having nice time⦠but in the moment i have that thought about disorders and strange feelings i become immediately sad is like i come back to my āown self the sad oneā
If you don't have any OCD symptoms or thoughts, then why are you worried? What is there to be in pain about?
@Kevin V Exactly, but just the feelings the nonsense worries make me doubt so much and thinking like it might be smth else like, Borderline or bipolar, also Iāve been told I have generalized anxiety disorder. (The ocd comes and go)
@Lonaa Are you sure that these feelings and worries aren't just OCD too?
@Kevin V Thatās my question too this is why im worried, Iāll be happy if it was ocd. Iām dying to know if those feelings are ocd or smth else. (When I see some types of ocd that resemble to what Iām experience I say ok it might be this) but then I start to think that smth else is not right⦠(plus I have a O ocd or as it called pure O)
@Lonaa Why do you need to know? Are you sure that you need to know? Would you be ok if you never learned where those feelings came from?
@Kevin V Iām not sure if need to know. But I think is better to have an answer for everything especially for smth that is torturing you, or I want to know because im hoping that the answer Iāll get is not what im afraid of. (I hope it makes sense)
@Lonaa Uncertainty is just something you have to get used to. Sometimes you just won't know why you feel a certain way, and you have to learn to accept that you don't know why. The urge to try to know, to figure out is OCD. To truly overcome OCD, you need to become comfortable with not knowing, with living with uncertainty.
@Kevin V If this is OCD then I donāt know the limit of it. Sometimes I question also if I have both or not, I know people who have both and this scares me in a way I canāt explain
yeah i ABSOLUTELY get this. idk if it's ocd or what, but ill feel vaguely anxious and distressed and i can never pinpoint why. it's just that something feels off, in one way or another, and i don't know what it is. it's just worry, derealization, fear without a source
