Hocd?

I’ve experienced HOCD, too. Before your symptoms became more pronounced, did you feel attracted to people of the same sex?

Same! So tired I'm so happy with my boyfriend and it keeps telling me I'm gay!! I hate it! I would just love to be gay by now! That way I wouldn't have to suffer

@Mimi123 Same. It feels like i enjoy being gay too. Cant even think a boy is cute anymore

@elleeen Just try and sit with the feelings.

@elleeen It's horrible! I really don't like girls! And no offense to those who are I think I would be really unhappy if I was gay! I HATE IT SO MUCH!!

@taylorn trying to do that. Suffer from Rocd and hocd, so its even harder to sit with the feelings when i feel gay and that i dont like my bf. But thanks! Happy that u have recovered:)

@taylorn I suffer hocd too. I noticed my symptoms had been gradually getting bigger and more problematic for me. Because of that, I don’t really know where is the line between the normal me and the hocd me. Though, I’ve never been attracted or interested or in love with a girl. I’ve always dreamt about boys

@Mimi123 Im so done with this. Anxiety through the roof. feeling guilty too

@elleeen I would love to have full support everyday! Sometimes I wish I would just clap my hands and everything got away!

@Mimi123 Yes same

@tiaaaa So what do you think that means?
- Date posted
- 5y
@taylorn Well, of course it means that I am attracted to boys only. You know, everything would be pretty clear if I hadn’t done something which I regret. I had a bad porn and masturbation addiction and ended up doing it on the wrong kind of porn. Now I see this as proof that I am a lesbian

@tiaaaa If you know you’re straight, hold onto that, and try to become comfortable with being uncomfortable.

@taylorn Thank you, you’re doing a big thing for all of us

@taylorn can hocd make u feel that u dont know anymore? Im at that stage and its destroying me, but im trying not to engage. But im dying inside

@tiaaaa I’m happy to help. I know things seem stressful and unmanageable, but if you actively choose not to give into your OCD, your symptoms will begin to subside.

@elleeen Giving you reassurance will be me giving into your OCD. I know that sounds unfair, but it is beneficial in the long run. Keep in mind that OCD preys on your vulnerability.

Sometimes I get these thoughts which tell me that something terrible is definitely going to happen.. And this gives me a lot of anxiety.. How do you deal with this!? What kind of exposure is needed here?

Is there something specific you fear? Otherwise, I’d try and get comfortable with being uncomfortable and feeling like there is an unknown.

I have suicidal ocd how did you overcome that one

If you are suicidal, get immediate help. If you believe you are suicidal because your OCD is trying to convince you that you are, I would tell yourself it’s the disease, and try to become comfortable with being uncomfortable.

How did you manage with false memory?

If you can, try to become comfortable with the feeling of the unknown. If you are in the height of it, and you really don’t think you can handle that this early on, try and distract yourself by watching some tv or something. I like the show Friends.

Congrats on overcoming it. I hope to one day overcome it all too. I notice you say it’s important to become comfortable with being uncomfortable. My OCD kind of changes as I become more comfortable with it. For example it started with checking and making sure doors are locked and lights are off (etc), and after a few years I’ve become mostly comfortable with it and start trusting myself. Then it morphed into re-reading stuff I’ve written down too much before I sent or submit it. I’m partially overcoming that now. Over things have come up too. The past several months it’s been about cleanliness (handwashint, frequent laundry, etc.) and due to multiple external stressors in the past few weeks the OCD has become the worst it’s ever been. What do you recommend if becoming comfortable with an OCD worry/compulsion leaves a vaccum/void where your mind sucks in another topic or concern to be worried about?

I would try and let your thoughts be. Accept them, and accept the fact that something new might creep into your mind, but don’t give into any of it!

@taylorn Not giving in is of course the hardest part lol. But thanks for sharing!

@nocdover It is the hardest part, but it is also the most rewarding!

@taylorn True! I’m currently traveling, and given the nature and logistics of the situation I’m in, it’s almost forcing me into ERP because I’m not able to perform the usual compulsions. It’s a blessing and a curse, as I am around people I know so the anxiousness if through the rough. But I know it will help long term.

@nocdover It’s a good thing. Try and do small things that make you happy when you have time. The crossword puzzle helped me tremendously.

I treat all OCD the same. Let your thoughts be, and try to become comfortable with being uncomfortable.

How did you manage with the obsession of cleaning over and over again your home
- Date posted
- 5y
You should try and stop giving in to the need to clean your home. Delay the urge to clean.
- Date posted
- 5y
I can relate to this. I don’t have the compulsion to clean the entire home, but rather clean items that might have come into contact with things that are dirty or contaminated — even though I know there’s really no need for concern. I too am trying to resist the urges to clean.

Hi, I’m new to the app as of today. I’m 20 years old, and wanted to get some stuff off my chest about the types of OCD I’ve been experiencing over the years. I’m not entirely sure how or when my OCD was brought up, but I’ve been a perfectionist for as long as I can remember. Anywhere and everywhere I go, if I see things placed in an order/angle that my brain doesn’t approve of, next thing I know I’m “fixing” it to be in the placement I feel looks better. I’m not aware of why I feel the need to do that, but until an object is in the “right” placement, I won’t take my eyes off of it. My eye will even twitch. Another form of OCD I have is in relationships. I spend each day overthinking and over-analyzing every one of the relationships that are important to me. Friends, family, significant other. Another one is what’s considered “Pure OCD” . When I get an intrusive thought of something devilish, whether it’s randomly seeing my great aunt naked bc my grandma considers her “fat” even though she’s not, or it’s seeing something demonic and traumatizing, I immediately tell myself, “I don’t wanna see/think about that” over and over and over until the thought is gone. Or I’ll try to replace one mental image with another. One other form of OCD I face every day, is religion. I got baptized for the first time in my life earlier this year in January. I had finally started to repent for my sins, and now I’m constantly feeling afraid that I’m letting God down due to my depression/lack of motivation and vaping/smoking. I also fear excessively that He’ll banish me from His kingdom, or just turn a cold shoulder. I know that what I’ve just typed up is probably all over the place. That is my brain unfortunately. How do you go from being a mentally disorderly and seemingly erratic young woman, to a more well-established, successful woman? I’m all ears!
