I am a true Christian and I am having blasphemous intrusive thoughts that keep popping into my head,now I think I am going to hell because I have blasphemed the Holy Spirit of out fear because I thought these thoughts 😭
I have also felt this fear of thinking something unforgivable. Every time I would try and block out the thoughts and distract myself, but it kept jumping in my head unbidden. If God is loving and merciful and all knowing, then he knows the struggle and fear you are experiencing right now. OCD likes to taunt us with the things most opposite of us, and threaten us using things that are important to us. I spent many years in a battle with my religious OCD. My solace now is knowing that God knows and forgives. Our bodies and minds are imperfect and God doesn't expect us to be perfect. He loves us as we are. OCD is fear, not love. I hope this all makes sense. You are not alone in this!
I remember me being 8 years old or so, terrified at night because of what it was like to die of if I was going to hell or not. Turning 13 and puberty did not help hehe

Religion and OCD can often clash, especially through religious scrupulousity. I’ve learned to live with it and to tell the difference between my true feelings and my OCD obsessions.
I have chronic anxiety and adhd both
This is OCD. Very common for us with this theme.

@Anonymous Possibly, I'm not a doc. I do experience this with my OCD, like assigning meaning to those unwanted thoughts, being convinced it means something, condemning ourselves because of it, and so on. It's very important to read the Bible and learn about security in your faith. Thoughts are thoughts, and can deceive us. God's written word is true, and doesn't change. Are you involved in a good church?
I've definitely felt like this. When ive heard Sermons about blaspheming the Holy Spirit, they send me into weeks-long spiral. Some of my most terrifying moments in life have been because of religious terror, ive felt like im going to explode with fear from those intrusive thoughts.

@Anonymous Im not completely through it, it remains a problem, but i will say after about a year and a half of consistent ERP I have less freak out moments. It is really the consistency in learning distress tolerance and working up to tolerating things about religion that scare me. Im not completely OK with religion and still have a lot of OCD around it, but I can hear more religious stuff without spiraling, and my overall anxiety is lower with it. For me it was just consistency with therapy which slowly allowed my brain to habituate so while its still distressing, its less distressing because my brain has learned to tolerate the uncertainty better.
