Honestly I just drain myself out with these thoughts to the point where I’m like F*** this s*** and just don’t care. I guess that’s a good thing

Firstly get evaluated by a licensed psychologist trained in ocd u may well be sick. To deal with intrusive thoughts. I use mindfulness, I eat well, I stay around supportive ppl, I go to therapy, I use cbt to identify distorted thinking, I also make fun of the intrusive thoughts and sometimes picture them drifting on clouds. Its It's really hard, it really sucks but it is what it is.

I work in a pharmacy so I see a lot medications for psychosis and schizophrenia. Also when I first developed GAD I experienced a lot of intrusive thoughts which made me think I was going crazy.

@saidyabdalah How do you handle your obsessions? Also I realized when I drink heavily on weekends (sometimes) that I become more anxious and have more obsessive thoughts for a few days.

@saidyabdalah I’m not advocating that this is good, but I find that caffeine actually helps for me. The anxiousness I get with worrying about compulsions and OCD causes bad headaches, and caffeine can give me the will-power and motivation to overcome them. As for alcohol, sometimes a moderate amount to relax the nerves can help, but too much does make it worse. Of course these are similar to self-medication which is not healthy and I am not advocating for it so don’t do it. Doing this too much can cause you to rely on these substances which is also not healthy. The more you have, the more of the substance you will need to achieve the same effect.

Tips I find that work well for me are distracting myself with movies/tv/videos. Exercise is great too, like working out, going for a walk, and playing sports. I find that guided meditation is helpful too. If I’ve been spending a lot of time with friends lately, I’ll spend sometime by myself. If I’ve been alone lately, I’ll try to get out and spend time with other people.
