My brain is spinning :( is it a normal long term relationship thing to not be obsessed and so into it 24/7? Like attraction and stuff ebbs and flows. I’m scared if I was with another guy maybe I would be attracted 24/7 and feel obsessed and all the things. I love my partner though. So much. I’m scared.
There’s certain expectations social media or other put on relationships it’s a normal thing not to feel “obsessed” with a partner real loves moves in waves sometime your focused on your partner other days you may be focused on work, friends, or family. Ocd tries to trick you to make you think “maybe my partner isn’t the one maybe i would be more obsessed if I was with someone else” don’t put meaning to it. You will never know if that’s true or not and sometimes it’s hard to hear but it’s true what you should focus on it making your relationship strong not letting your ocd make you overthink things you don’t have to if you love your partner just keep loving them.
@savbanana Thank you so much. Sometimes when out socially I feel more drawn to someone else than my partner and I hate that. But it’s life. And I would never do anything to betray my partner! Thank you for your words. My OCD makes me think and hyperfocus on all of this so much. Like not being super attracted to my partner one night but more attracted to someone else. Makes me sick. But yes I love my partner. And then my brain throws all the he deserves better stuff my way:(
@Mk3 Yeah it definitely gets hard but remember ocd targets the things you value the most that’s why rocd can get so difficult.

I completely relate to this because I usually don't feel attracted to my partner in a sexual manner and it usually feels like I would rather just hug him or hold his hand.. movies and society sometimes skew the way relationships actually are so we think that we have to be so attracted to someone and so obsessed with someone but that's just not how some people are.. You can definitely love someone fully and not feel obsessed with them.. in fact, obsession show shows that you are trying to hold onto something that might change but in your case you have a healthy relationship.. there are times in a relationship when you see others and find them handsome or pretty or you feel bored with your partner but it is actually summed up by one thing.. LOVE IS A CHOICE.. as long as you choose your partner and decide that they are the one for you as long as you feel comfortable in that relationship then that means you love them.. you are in fact in a very good relationship with your partner.. It also helps to share with them if they're willing to listen how you feel on the inside so that you can feel closer to them and they can understand your thought process and your values.. take care
