Hello komorebi11, I’m really glad you shared this. It doesn’t sound stupid at all—this is a great example of how OCD and perfectionism can latch onto everyday things, like a game, and turn them into high‑pressure, “permanent” decisions. I see you are struggling with making a choice for your farm name. Each time you choose a name, you judge/label or ruminate about the name you chose, ultimately leading to a name change in an attempt to "fix it." That cycle of “pick a name → notice a flaw or scary association → delete and start over” is exhausting, and it makes sense that you feel stuck and frustrated. Many people with OCD feel this same pressure around names, saves, or irreversible choices in games and in life. It’s not that you’re actually incapable of deciding; it’s that your brain is demanding certainty and originality that no one can truly have. With the right support, you can learn to notice those urges to fix or restart, and gently resist them so you can keep playing even when the name doesn’t feel perfect. If you’re struggling and need more assistance, remember that help is available. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at NOCD to find out how we can support you. That sounds so frustrating. I connect useless things all the time and sour the experience. I tell myself that it’s enough and it’s unfair for me to keep doing that and I keep playing and eventually forget. It’s gonna be uncomfortable but to what extent will this stop you gotta ask yourself? You gotta get through the game! I’m sure you like the game.

I have this same issue. Its very frustrating. I usually need the right thoughts when it comes to starting a new game. The way my NOCD therapist has thought me is, we can over come this is by sitting with the uncomfortablness of the situation and letting it pass. Its anxiety, and anxiety lessons over time. What I also learned from my therapist is we can't completely control our thoughts or feelings, no matter how much we believe we can, however we can control our compulsions. In this case our compulsions are to delete the game and start over. Avoid doing this cause, most likely you will find something wrong with your nexted farm name, as well.
