Yes, it is entirely possible to experience a groin response automatically. In the context of OCD, specifically POCD this scenario is widely recognized and frequently discussed. Experiencing these feelings doesn’t mean you actually desire them, nor do they reflect your true character or intentions. 🥸

For example, I used to remember the things I did when I was little, but I wouldn't care, and nothing else would come to mind back then. I would even go to the beach and stuff, and it wasn't even on my mind. Does this just mean that it was dormant, or do these responses increase once you become aware of them?

@Ieoıdkodkdsklsskka No, I don’t think they were dormant you most likely just did not have OCD back then. It is clinically proven that people can develop OCD completely out of nowhere later in life, so you probably just didn’t think much of these thoughts because at the time they weren’t really a big deal. Responses absolutely increase, multiply, and feel much more intense the moment you become aware of them. When you were younger, you did not care about those memories because your brain most likely categorized them as normal, meaningless childhood experiences. The random burst of symptoms you are experiencing now is probably due to hyperawareness 🙂↕️

@Anonymous - So, is this how egodystonic pedophilia happens too? In what way do we differ from it?

How do you cope with this, or is there a way to truly understand what is happening? I can't just accept it and move on.

In my non-professional opinion, but as someone who has struggled with POCD for over a decade, I think this is possible. One way it's been explained to me is basically the brain & body disconnect. Like, if your body feels something sexual, it may respond (a child accidentally grazing a private area). It's not sexual, but bodies sometimes automatically react. Or the brain, I would imagine, can get conditioned to send the same message when presented information. Kind of like salivating when thinking about ice cream or cringing when thinking about road kill. But the twist OCD throws in is the anxiety & doubt & the whole cycle. So when presented with the same anxiety inducing intrusive thought (am I attracted to this child) the body might respond, even though there is no sexual attraction or arousal. This is something I remind myself often. I feel like when I recognize a POCD cycle has begun, I call it what it is & set my mind towards not letting what my brain or body is "telling me" run wild. I take deep breaths, remind myself that having POCD does not make me a pedophile & the more I focus on staying calm rather than trying to stop thinking or reassuring or making sense of it/trying to figure it out, the less time the POCD cycle lasts. Sorry for the long response & also if anything I wrote was triggering.

"I can never finish the questions in my mind, so thank you anyway. After experiencing so much, it is really hard for me that there is no attraction in return. I feel like I am addicted to the possibilities.

@Ieoıdkodkdsklsskka Can you reword this? I don’t understand the reply.

@kaylouise - I mean, after everything that's happened, it's really hard to expect there still to be no attraction...

@Ieoıdkodkdsklsskka I hope you find the answers you're looking for; I really hope it's POCD you're struggling with & not true attraction.

@kaylouise - hope that if I were really someone like that, I would have those kinds of sexual thoughts, because things like that don't cross my mind. Mostly, it's just my automatic arousal, things I've done in the past, or me trying to explain/prove that I'm not like that. I mean, people who are actually like that are apparently sure of it. But I have always been searching for an answer.

SOCD person here. I have suffered this with my theme as well but for SO rather than P triggers. Same loop though. Ain’t that interesting?!? It means yes this can happen and no it don’t mean nothing. I recommend you see a therapist that specializes in OCD treatment ASAP. That’s what I did and my life is much better now. Do not feel one shred of shame or embarrassment to explain your situation to a therapist who knows OCD because they’ve heard it all and will not judge you. They will help you. Above all do not seek reassurance of whether anything about P means anything about you. It will only increase your suffering. Hard to do. You got this!

@Ieoıdkodkdsklsskka I’m not giving you any reassurance either way. I’m saying that these thoughts are just thoughts and don’t reflect you one way or the other.
