First type of OCD?
Think all the way back to when you were little. What was your first genre of OCD? I believe mine was Health, but it also could’ve been safety. I’m not sure lol. I’m curious what yours was!

Religious OCD and Magical thinking OCD. An example is I wouldn’t be able to sleep unless I said a certain prayer I made up perfectly word for word. If I forgot to mention someone I cared about or didn’t say thank you for something I was convinced it would be taken away or the person I didn’t mention would be harmed.
@skeebean I have had some perfectionism ocd in my life, so I can understand how hard the perfect prayer must have been.
Food ocd As I was severely sick with anorexia.
@Loveyato21 I’m so sorry about that.. sending so much love and support your way.
Mine was harm I think, I remember watching a child killer documentary when I was a teen and feeling like a had been engulfed in a cloud of terror where I felt like I could be a serial killer and I worried that I’d harm my family. Nowadays I’ve been plagued with SO-OCD and ROCD for the past 10 years 😅
@Anxiousgirly99 I’ve had a similar experience!
I don't recall having it at all as a child. I don't think mine started until mid 20s and it's only been contamination ocd. Did something specific make you concerned about your health? You don't have to answer if you feel uncomfortable.
@kyrose It all sparked during Covid. I was really scared, and we didnt know it was OCD back then. Not a good combo haha.
@Carter Eggleton That makes total sense, i'm sorry you have to go through it.
Mines was all contamination ocd. I remember it all started with the covid pandemic and I freaked out a bit too much to the point where one of my family members pasted away due to the virus. Ever since then life hasn’t been the same.
@kitkatangie I’m so sorry.. I hope you get better!
When i was little i mightve had a period where I had some harm ocd, but it went away. I don’t think the ocd really started until in September, with hocd being the theme. It’s transformed and abandoned so many different themes now but it usually sticks to harm
@ForTheGlory290 Same for me, my ocd jumps from thing to thing.
I’m not sure which genre this is, but I remember my first ocd “compulsion”. Whenever I folded my laundry in the basement I had 20 seconds to run upstairs with my laundry and touch my door handle. If I didn’t I thought my mom was going to die.
@tsunami1213 That sounds like harm ocd which is scary.. I had one where I had to touch the bottom of the pool or something bad would happen.
Health was the first for me. As you said health/safety stuff
I remember feeling like there was a string attached to me and that when I opened cabinets and doors I had to untangle it, which lead to repetitive movements.
@Gourdy Ah, gotcha. That sounds tricky.
Mine was existential/religious ocd. around seven or so, I tried to simulate being dead because I needed to understand it. going to unhelpful church made it worse, because the talk of hell made me try to simulate what forever suffering was right. So my first compulsions came from trying to prevent stray thoughts or avoid possession from demons.
I don't know its description or what it's called, but it was about the fear of harm, because I went through truly hurtful traumas. I was afraid of what happened to me repeating itself, and that's how my OCD started.
@Chloe20 Sounds like harm ocd. I’ve had/have it. It sucks, you got this!
