Hi, i read your post and your comment replying to someone else. Erp is very hard, and I am so proud of you for attempting thus far. There are a few methods to try with erp: one is a gradual method, write down your themes and compulsions, then rank them from least to most debilitating. From there you can start from the least and work your way up. Say you have a fear of touching a doorknob for fear of getting sick, but this theme is a level 1 not a 10. Work on exposing yourself to touching a doorknob without doing a compulsion afterwards. As these level ones become level 0s you can work your way up to 2, 3, 4 etc. theres also a more extreme method where you go for the worst (level 10) first. Given your distress regarding your social life at the moment that may not be the best idea, but I wanted to share in case it was. Unfortunately there isn't a way to reverse the strain on your relationships, you can only move forward with the reality you currently have. Id suggest not telling everyone you're attempting erp, because unfortunately if you were to slip up it can cause added strain due to stigma against mental health. That "if you fail you aren't trying" bs. Just focus on you and your internal world. Over time your relationships will improve. Ive been in your position many times, and I've learned each time a new way to move forward. I believe in you ❤️

@Anonymous4445 If you mean inpatient as in hospital stay, I dont think that means all hope is lost. In fact you may get even better resources than you would online. If your psychiatrist is suggesting in patient then that may be the best for you. even if it doesnt go well, once you get out you can get right back to outside life and you'll likely get more resources through those programs. In patient is how I managed to get real therapy and that was years ago

@kitkatangie I’m just freaking out I have these diseases and it consumes me all day everyday. I’m losing friends over it and my family is at their breaking point with me asking for reassurance and stuff. I just don’t know how to do erp. I try but it’s so hard and the thoughts consume me and everything feels so real
@Justocd24/7 It’s supposed to be hard so don’t see that as failure. You have to not do the normal behaviors and live with the anxiety. It’s really hard but it works
Do you want to vent to me? I’m totally up to give you reassurance!
