So when I was younger I didn’t have many friends at school and I would get involved in some sort of drama so I was mostly lonely. And I was close to the one friend and she sat behind me with a group of four and I sat in front her alone cause there was a odd number of students. And my brain went “Are you jealous?” Cause she was talking to other people and I was attached to her. And I’ve never was jealous that she was hanging around other people, so it was a weird feeling I had. Idk if this is ocd cause later I even tried to get her away from other friends so she could hang out with me

@Peridottttt That sounds like OCD. But even if it’s not, there’s nothing wrong with feeling a little jealous sometimes; it’s a normal human response. You focusing so much on whether or not you were jealous probably made you behave as if you were, hence you tried to bring her attention away from her other friends and towards you. But even if that was from legitimate jealousy, it’s a normal human response. Just be more conscious of what you’re doing next time and find a better way of inserting yourself or of bringing the attention back to yourself. Nothing you said sounds very abnormal or worrying to me, but I understand how your OCD might be twisting things in your head.

@erin174 Yeah idk why when I have the thought “are you jealous?” It’s the worse one

@Peridottttt It’s probably very important to you not be jealous, which means you have high standards for your behavior and strong character—not a bad thing! Just learn to accept the thoughts when they come instead of fighting them. I know, easier said than done. But with practice, it gets much easier :)

@erin174 I feel guilty

@Peridottttt My mom always says prolonged guilt is a wasted emotion. If you were jealous, you were jealous. It doesn’t make you a bad person. Everyone I know, even some of the kindest people I’ve ever met, has experienced jealousy and acted on it before. It’s very likely your OCD.

Not right now, I freaked out this morning and couldn’t do anything. I was happy then I had a thought that’s when my mood changed

@Peridottttt I’m sorry I can relate and with your post I wouldn’t worry about it too much. In my past I lashed onto my best friend in fourth grade (we both were being sexually abused by the same man and witnessed eachother get abused) and my hocd has tried to use that against me as well. Ocd tries to attack anything and everything possible.

@annehatesocd When I feel jealous idk but I feel like I have to get more into why I feel that way.

@annehatesocd My hocd is lower now I look at women in ways I used to not like but I didn’t care if I was straight or bi or whatever. It’s just now when I see a pretty women I can’t see her in the way I used to, before I didn’t pay much attention but now I have to look at her like “are you gay?”

@Peridottttt Ya I think everyone with hocd does that. We “check” ourselves. I never remember looking at girls when I was younger only boys, but now I do and I stress out immensely. I always say whatever your natural response is, like if you picture your future and it’s with a boy, than that’s your true sexuality. Trust me I struggle with it too. And the jealousy I think everyone’s jealous at some point. But I know how you feel. My hocd will try to make me feel jealous or be like “are you jealous” when one of my girl friends are with their boyfriend and I’m like “no??” But than I remember how I would sob when I saw my ex flirting with my best friend and doing all that and hating it and being mean and I’m like “that’s me when I’m jealous.”

@Peridottttt OCD is so much easier to identify from the outside in! When I’m panicking I can’t tell what is or isn’t my OCD, but when I’m not and someone else describes something like this, I can recognize that it’s exactly what my brain goes through when I’m freaking out! Your OCD is taking this and running with it, but I promise, this isn’t anything at all to be concerned about. Your story has all the trademarks of an OCD spiral. I know it’s hard to tell because you’re going through it, but it really is just your OCD.
