How can I convince my parents to let me do Roger’s
I’m 20 years old and my ocd is really bad. My therapist at an ocd specialty center said that they can’t accept me as a patient in the fall unless I do Roger’s PHP or residential, because from November to April I met with a therapist there who had a supervisor twice a week, and we saw no benefit. When I ask my parents about Roger’s, there are constantly reasons as to why I can’t do it (ex. It’s out of state, I don’t have the money for it and they aren’t paying it, etc.). Even if I had the money for it, they would say they wouldn’t want me using my dads insurance (I don’t have my own insurance plan) to pay for it, and could take me off of their insurance. They are also extremely against me taking a semester off of college to do it. When I say extremely against I mean extremely against. They yell at me and tell me I press too much when I bring it up. They’ve also told me that my situation has affected the family and made people not sleep well, and my dad said he needs to put an used the oxygen mask analogy and said oxygen mask on himself first. I feel like I may just have to deal with the ocd until I graduate in a year and then figure out what to do, but I’d like not to. How do I convince my parents about this when they get so angry about it, and won’t talk to any healthcare providers about it or listen to them?
