Does anyone else relate to hit the wall by gracie abrams?

This song and music video came out over a month ago and it really struck something with me. I know that gracie abrams has ocd herself and i have been listening to it constantly because it feels like a vent for the deep turmoil that i have dealt with. She has a lyric that says "I want to be stable but i do cave" and that hit really hard especially with the way she looks into the camera on the video. I included this as a trigger warning because there is a mention of violence and hallucinations. I believe that the violence is a mention of harm ocd as opposed to actual harm and the hallucinations are a reference of how we can almost hallucinate that something is a real concern.

Yesss I relate to it so much, and to look at my life too, when she says "bet you can't tell but it's kind of a bad time". That song sounds fun but that line makes me cry everytime because no one in my life knows about my ocd theme and what I've been going through this year apart from my mom but I don't tell her much about it either because I just don't feel like sharing with anyone for some reason. And from the outside it probably looks like I'm doing great, I got my masters degree and graduated top of my class, I lost weight which everyone praises me for but only I know that I lost it because I couldn't eat due to anxiety. I go out a lot more than I used to, to bars and stuff, but it's more of a way to distract myself, like I have a constant need to do fun things. And everyone thinks I'm doing great because I look like I am but I've actually never been worse :))) I can't wait for her new album, I feel like there's gonna be a lot more relatable songs on it.

I'm very sorry to hear that and I really really relate to what wow you have said, so much so that I probably could have written this response! I am professional now at hiding this disorder and have been listening to that song on repeat as well. If you don't know, the songs block me out and Camden are also very relatable by her as well. I'm sorry to hear what you are going through

@JS55555 The funny thing is that I didn't know until this post that she has ocd and just the other day I reposted a tiktok about her music that said "whatever mental illness gracie abrams has, I have the same one". Go figure 💀😭

@anca - Thats so true (pun intended)! I have always felt like i matched her vibe (epically with the song risk) but I couldnt quite place it. Then i found a few old interviews with her saying that she has ocd and even a very short unreleased song that she wrote directly about the different themes that she has. She has harm ocd and i would imagine that the shame felt with that is probably why she doesnt talk about it that much but writes songs that are clearly about it. I know noah kahan was just diagnosed as well.

@JS55555 Olivia Rodrigo's new album also had some very relatable parts, although I don't know if she has ocd. But the songs have this vibe that feels like my experience with ocd.

@anca Also I listen to a lot of music about addiction because I am effectively addicted to compulsions because they provide temporary relief but I know hurt me more long term. Mgk has a bunch of good ones like this. His songs I think I'm okay, glass house, and 5:3666 are good for this

@anca - I was just thinking about adding some of her music to my playlist for when I am feeling very broken. She has the lyric "my head is full of poision and my heart is full of doubt, I've got toxins in my bloodstream, you tried hard to suck them out." I think about that one a lot.
