i didn't listen to the what ifs, and got out of my comfort zone and sailed for the first time in really windy conditions and had so much fun
@Riley 🎀 🎸🎲🍒🎱🤍♠️ That sounds like a blast!
@Riley 🎀 🎸🎲🍒🎱🤍♠️ Awesome
I went to another state and took my 94-year-old aunt out to lunch for her birthday. She’s a fascinating person.
I realized I would rather most any of my worst-case scenarios happen than have OCD in control of my life again.
wow❣️ that's huge!
THIS!
I used to be so scared to go to functions with a lot of people and we hosted a girls night and I laughed and had so much fun just “being in the moment” and not have my thoughts on all my maybes
LOVE THIS!
At a convention this week, and I sat with a TON of anxiety/panic yesterday and made it through with a minimal amount of compulsions. You can do it, we're in this together!
Keep up the amazing work!
I was consistent in my goal of journaling everyday! ☺️
I didn’t have to wash my hands before I ate !!
I completed my first practice! :)
I made it through another week
I drove 10 miles away from my house by myself with limited anxiety!! Opened my world up so much!
@Anonymous That’s awesome 🤩 I understand how driving anxieties can really make your world smaller and I’m just now getting back to driving on highways myself. Congrats 🎉
@Anonymous OCD comes after me while I'm driving too. Glad you're getting out there!
You're amazing 👏
@Anonymous Yay brave you!! ❤️
This is WONDERFUL!
I got out a couple of bags of garbage, one of which was from my Bathroom (extra contaminated to me).
@anonymous 88888888 i struggle with this too, i might give it a try too!
I was able to get through an intrusive thought that was bothering me and getting past an anxious moment.
I spent the week as a camp counselor, and got to take a part in making a difference in the lives of teens. First time ever doing this, and I’m so glad I did!
@Shenk Awesome! Thanks for making a difference!
OMG! I love this!
I became an OCD conqueror!
CONGRATULATIONS!
I almost stayed home from my Spanish conversation class because of my OCD, but pushed through it and went anyway!
@Amy B. muy bien!! you've got this!!
Ugh I made it through multiple triggers, didn’t have my therapy this week and didn’t schedule in a panic & still drank coffee!
@Jade Krystal I also have anxiety & OCD and I also love coffee ☕️ which can be disastrous at times but other days it’s fine! Glad u got to enjoy your cup!🤗
@Anxiousashley Yes! It can be right lol but sipping still counts on those hard days! Same to you 🥰
I went shopping at the grocery store 🛒 🤗
I finally watched a movie I’ve been avoiding for years! It triggers my relationship OCD but I did a good job trying not to engage in compulsions☺️
I absolutely love this for you!
I was able to go on vacation and push myself through ocd worries and what ifs and I’m so happy I pushed myself because it was a wonderful time 🙏🏻
Went to bed before 11 O’clock everyday
I pushed through my thoughts and let myself sit with the uncomfortable feeling until it passed, I realized nothing bad happened and I felt normal for the first time in so long!
I have not given up on school yet! Full time work and full time school is hard and the what ifs are harder but I’m doing it!
That's hard for anyone but especially with ocd. Way to go!
@Linclidd I do FT Work and school too. It’s a big sacrifice but so worth it. I’m getting my masters in biology. How about you?
@saturnginnydiego I’m getting my bachelors in philosophy actually, planning on going to get my masters else where. Currently in a fourth week class 😫
@Linclidd Good luck! 😃
You've got this!
I went to two concerts alone this week and the anxiety and intrusive thoughts were deafening, but I did my best to push through. I was actually able to stay the full duration of both concerts and meet some really nice people! This is a huge step for me because normally when I go anywhere I at least like to have one person there for safety and support typically to even mildly feel OK in that type of environment.
Me too that's amazing 👏
This is gigantic! 🙌✨️
@Anonymous Who did you go see??
@💜Cinderella💜 Emerson and the wishbones and The Pretty Reckless
@Anonymous Cool! lol just as I expected i dont know either
I let myself decide whether I was biking to work or taking ride share the morning of, depending on rain (instead of planning every second, penny, and worst case scenario out the night before)
I went to summer camp and didn't have nearly as many intrusive thoughts as last year. It was super fun and I made new friends!!
@EastisCake63 Thats so fun! I went to camp for the first time a week or two ago!
I stopped myself sentries from washing my hands and let the anxious feelings stay and carried on anyway
My latest assessment scores show an 81% decrease since I started with NOCD!! Wahoooo!!!
Wow awesome 😎
This is amazing!
I’ve been practicing staying present in the moment and am slowly but surely choosing to be at peace with myself and my anxiety
I got through a workday without going home when i was struggling with an obsessive thought at work this week
After receiving really difficult criticism at work I’m choosing to just continue with my life and work on everything one moment at a time.
I’m on a quest to give myself compassion in the worst OCD moments - the ones when I feel the most like I have to keep myself “in line.” I’m not there yet but it’s a start
After 3 years of talking about it and being avoidant I finally contacted someone on Craigslist about buying a used truck
Whoa, that's a majorly big deal!
I made food for myself and used my tools to stop worrying about my wedding
I almost fell into a spiral two days ago, but I ended up sitting with it, watched a Marvel movie, and went to bed. Next day I felt better. Usually those spirals can keep going and then last for days or weeks. Although writing this feels like I am jinxing myself, although as a Christian I know that can’t be the case. Might end up coming back to this to delete as a ‘compulsion’
@alan87 My friend is making me watch all the Marvel movies with her right now. Good job for holding on!
@💜Cinderella💜 Enjoy! They’re so good, and all the shows too. Very good storytelling, and a very good story is the Infinity Wars saga.
I completed my 3rd session this week and am learning about my fears and themes so I can get back to myself healthy and happy self again
You've got this!
I completed my second session and got to talk about my triggers and obsessions on greater detail. It was freeing and relieving. It was also reassuring to remove any doubts about whether I actually have OCD.
I had an amazing discussion in ROCD support group, renovated the apartment, and taught a friend how to weightlift!
I began OCD treatment
I’ve committed to joining a book club, which is something I’ve wanted to do for so long. It did cause a compulsion, but I was able to catch myself which I’ve learned still counts as a win!
Gratitude is big with me and it was a gorgeous day. Every minute there was a hummingbird on the feeder not a cloud in the sky. All my hard work in the garden is in Bloom. Every day has added value because I know there are a few of them left so I appreciate each one I have.
Hummungbirds and gardens are truly some of life's treasures. 🩷
Actually managed to enjoy work yesterday even with multiple meetings.
I experienced a trigger at work and was able to relieve the sense of fear/urgency and carry on with my day!
I’ve finally cleared the way to recovery by recognizing how deep my OCD runs, and have done several things to sit with it instead of cope
Did better with erp this week
I woke up this morning without intrusive thoughts hitting me first thing. I felt like a regular person. I mailed out 2 checks without repeatedly checking for accuracy. I threw away chewed sole of shoe because of dog and put inserts in even though it didn't feel just right. I read for 15 minutes without repeatedly checking for perfect understanding
I had a good week at work and I just started treatment this week. Trying to be optimistic about it.
Did not let myself wallow and feel alone. Went to the gym and had an awesome workout and interacted with my gym community
I ate an entire meal !
@chy.guy This is amazing🫶🏻🌻❤️🥙🎉
Fantastic!!
@chy.guy Yippie!
When I felt horrible I went to the gym. When my triggers came up I refused to avoid them or do compulsions several times.
My DOCS score went up, but it’s because I’ve realized through therapy that some unexamined behaviors in my life are actually compulsions, and I’ve now learned to include them in my assessments and can start planning exposures for them. Recognition is the first step!
I did an exposure that caused a lot of distress, and moved on with my day :)
I began treatment.
I took my niece to her 9th grade orientation. I could've backed out plenty of times and let the fear win, but I didn't. I felt the panic attacks coming, my hands felt clammy, my heart rate was racing. I stepped to the side and took 3 deep breaths and was able to finish the afternoon meeting her teachers. I was so proud of myself.
You did it!! 🙌
@Beanie Baby Awesome!!
@Beanie Baby I am going into 8th grade and I am telling you right now how much that meant to her!
@Chelly123 - Yes I did!!!!!!
@Amy B. - Thank you!
@💜Cinderella💜 - She knew it was going to be difficult for me, but she never left my side. She calls me her hero, I call her my hero
@Beanie Baby Speaking for teens, as a teen - It is actually a lot harder to open up to someone then you would think. Her calling you her hero is real. She loves you and I can tell that you love her. She knows how much you care, you faced your fears for her. That means a lot.
Went to work and was able to find motivation within myself
I didn’t try to fix 3 things
I resisted googling symptoms and asked for reassurance a lot less than before
Nice! Keep up the amazing work!
I was able to throw a birthday party for my son and celebrate him the way he deserves 🩷🎉
LOVE THIS!
53% doc improvement score in 3 weeks !!!
OMG! This is AMAZING!
I had my first 2 sessions with NOCD 💪🏻
I left a PHP that was harmful to me and others as well as actually advocated for myself!! Now I'm starting NOCD next week! WHO IS SHE 🥹🙌💅
Amazing!!!
I was having a bad flare of ocd but was still managing to perform well at work
Very proud of you!! It's okay to need a mental health day sometimes but not if you're spending it spiraling and ruminating!
getting over one of my compulsions to “ fix “ something out of place!!
When I went to camp I didn’t pull my hair hardly at all! I actually functioned like a normal person and faced my fear of stay away camp!
made it through another long week of physical and mentally exhausting work schedule, grief for the death of family members, ocd and so much more. Trying to focus on my garden projects and how well they are doing!
I have two wins! My fluvoxamine is finally starting to kick in which toned down the anxiety levels a lot. I dont feel as urgent to do my compulsions which gives me so much more breathing room. And secondly, I finally got my OCD diagnosis last Wednesday! Im getting a referral to an ERP/OCD specialized therapist!
@Ashton Havok Yes-Luvox is beginning to work for me also. Yay!
I got out of my comfort zone
I watched the lightening coming from a storm in the distance and had a tiny amount of anxiety. I was so happy.
Was able to have my mom spend money on me without stressing to much
@Mia🍙🥐🐈⬛🐽 Thats real. I stress so bad
I am trying to accept that I had a setback & not let it keep me down. Just trying to look forward.
I realised straight away it was an ocd thought :)
I was able to have my leg touch my cat’s litter box for five seconds without washing or disinfecting it. :)
NICE!
Noticed when I was checking my feelings for my partner and starting to geneneralize them.
Able to sit in uncertainty more.
I did a level 4 exposure, definitely has been hard but I’m proud of myself for how far I have come with the exposures 🙌🏼
I started treatment this past Monday and did some exposures. I have intense cardiophobia despite being told I am generally healthy, so my therapist had me focus on activities that increased my heart rate, such as going for a brisk walk and doing planks.
You've got this! Keep up the amazing work!
I used somatic techniques to get into my body and out of my head. Deep breathing, tapping, vagus nerve stimulation, my weighted blanket. Really helped calm me down enough to sleep.
Getting out of bed more quickly than usual- w/ the help of a meditative visual aid near my clock!!!!!
This week was full of surprises and I dealt with them straight on.. no worries , no anxiety
One day I was not motivate to workout, but I still did
I'm at my friend's house and I'm not having any panic or anxiety attacks
I had an R OCD and real event OCD flare up and I didn’t do a compulsion. Funny enough my finger slipped and I used the sos button for the first time. It really helped. I also had a really bad moral OCD moment cause by some toxic behavior and family drama. I didn’t handle that one as gracefully, but in the end I’m still here 🙂↕️. I’m giving myself grace. I’m getting up and trying again. And I wanna be the first to say I’m proud of myself for that
I made it through session #3 and I’m taking notes in sessions and journaling and really trying to help myself get better! I’m proud of myself for putting in the effort and facing all of this even though it’s scary! 🩷
Many times I would give in to the compulsion and go back to what's comfortable, but this time I'm pushing through. It's very hard.
I worked on my first physical practice/exposure, and worked on excepting uncertainty!
I wrote out a thought diary this week, identified compulsions and started to resist them. I turned down a therapist who seemed like a bad fit and looked out for myself. I took care of my newborn baby and turned up for my wife and business. I prayed for strength and grace.
Saying yes to more flexibility and handling it fairly well 🥳 instead of sticking to the routine or spiraling after deviating from routine
I scheduled my first therapy session for health OCD and I took off my fitness watch.
Finding NOCD! I've been in a long drawn out spiral (with some ups and downs along the way), and aside from reaching out to an OCD specialist this month, I also went looking for resources myself and found this community! So far, it feels very relatable and I hope that it can help me manage and improve on my mental health ❤️
I felt really bad for missing a chance to go on vacation because of school work, but I pulled myself out of the spiral. Yeah it sucks right now, but hey, I've been on vacation there before and will probably do so again. And I get to go hang out at a friend's party tomorrow, so it's not the end of the world. The glass is now half-full for me ^_^
I participated in this event called artfight despite having a spiral because of recent events and it made me wanna quit
Been better at limiting my clenching while using the bathroom to fully “extinguish” my waste and not wiping more than I need too
I remembered that taking time to rest is an essential part of your energy cycle and not something you have to earn.
Nothing, my ocd got worse this week
I allowed myself to eat food that touched the (clean) floor
Not spiraling and being able to gray rock a very upsetting situation at work
What does gray rock mean?
Last night I had an obsession that wanted me to perform a compullsion. I told myself performing the compullsion will just result in me doing it more and more . It will never be enough... After about 2 hours of brain lock worrying something would happen . The compullsion disolved. The volume was not only turned down it was muted. Thank you God
I maintained strong boundaries with some really difficult people at work despite my OCD making me feel like the villain. Recovering from people-pleasing. 💪🏻
I recently started a new anxiety medication, and my first NOCD appointment is later this week. I’m definitely still nervous, but I’m really proud of myself for finally doing the things that my OCD and anxiety kept me from doing for so long. One step at a time. 😊
I didn’t take a shower after getting caught in a downpour.
Holly, Very helpful comment for me! Thank you so much! Wishing you the best! Pamel
I was able to invite a friend over to my apartment, and actually enjoyed her company, despite anxiety!
I wish I could say i had a good win with ocd this week but it’s been nothing but worse. I was able to enjoy a vacation at least, but the aftermath of it has been very exhausting
Leaving the house within five minutes, putting on the first outfit I found, not putting on makeup, leaving with imperfect hair, not checking my bag before I left, and repeating to myself that I don’t need to do all the rituals. Yes there was discomfort and people commented on the messy hair, but I turned out fine and didn’t spiral like usual. I still checked mirrors and my phone camera a lot, but didn’t allow myself to add any makeup. This is a really big deal for me. I feel like I’ve started training myself to drop the rituals the best I could because I just started on NOCD.
I opened a door with my bare hands on a couple of occasions, not using my shirt like usual.
Not letting other people’s petty behavior affect my mood and feelings.. keeping my energy and peace
I think of OCD as something that not part of me-extraneous, and I don’t have to do what it tells me to. Just allow myself to live with the anxiety. I picture it as a black ball outside of the real me. Be compassionate wit my self. I deserve to feel freedom.
I was able to not apologize as much as usual🏆
